Who is the greatest position player in franchise history?

As an Oakland A I went with Henderson-the greatest leadoff hitter ever (he'd agree with that!:radio). All time franchise I'd still go with Henderson, just ahead of Foxx.

I have always been a huge Mickey Cochrane buff. Love the guy. I pick Cochrane by a nose over Foxx and Henderson. He played a much more difficult and important (IMO) position and was the best at it. Simmons isn't far behind. I can certainly make a case for the others, too! Tough choice, but I go with Black Mike. Great glove, great arm, great stick, great team leader, great baseball smarts, excellent runner (often hit leadoff). He was the entire package. Connie's favorite.

I went with Foxx, but Collins, Henderson, Simmons, Jackson, McGwire, and Canseco are all reasonable choices (ignoring roids).

BTW, where the frick is Eddie Collins in this poll?!?!?!?

I was leaning towards Adam Piatt but decided on Rickey Henderson

Since Dave Henderson is not an option, I'll have to go with Rickey Henderson

Yea, Steve Henderson wasn't an option either, so I also went with Rickey. :)

I really would prefer Foxx, by Rickey is simply better.

Now that I think about it, this question can be interpreted 2 ways. If it is who was the best player as an Athletics, it probably comes down to Rickey or Foxx. But, if you want to ask who the best player was ever to wear an Athletics uniform, it is probably Ty Cobb.

Eddie Collins. Of that list, however, it would be Rickey followed closely by Foxx.

I think Double X and Rickey Henderson are two completely different players. They were different hitters in different eras in different positions. I picked Jimmie Foxx because of his incredible power and the fantastic numbers he put up with the A's.
