Many people will ask the question "How do I become a switch-hitter?"

Others will try to make them self a switch hitter and ask "What drills will help me become a switch-hitter?"

Well, I'm here to help!- For about a year now I've been a 'switch-hitter'. I don't use it it game-play a lot, but I can make contact batting from both sides of the plate. I will try my best to help you become a switch hitter.

There are many ways to practice this. For me I was swinging a bat left-handed for a few years but it wasn't helping. So, I tryed batting left-handed on the Wii Sports baseball game. It worked because I could see my character batting on the T.V.

Before you do that, you should work on your stance. You could use the same stance that you use normally. Just get in your stance on your normal side of the plate, STEP over to the other side of the plate (keeping your grip, legs, etc. in place), switch your hands and you're ready!

Once you have mastered this, get a light weigh bat and hit wiffle balls. Have some one throw to you, no fast just normal.

Next is the baseball. Do the Same as you did with the wiffle balls but with a baseball.

Then you can step on to the field, hit some pitches and try to aim them in a certain field.

Before you use it in game-play, make sure you're comfortable doing it.

If you have any questions, feel free to Private Message (PM) me. I'll do my best to get back to you. Or you can just post on this thread and myself or amother member might be able to answer you questions.

Keep Swinging! :)

I have been working with my 10yr old son a little at a time with switch hitting. I have him do the one arm swing drill off the tee 5X and then a slow two hand full swing 5X and increase bat speed another 5X. We repeat the process. That is phase 1. In phase 2 we will incorporate the weight shift and hip turn. I hope by next season he will be able to switch hit in actual games.

That's good. That's another option too.

I am not a switch hitter (could be, but I'm better at the right side so I'd miss a lot of hits). Anyway, I just took bp lefty one day and roped the ball. Never practiced it before. I was late 13 almost 14 when I did.

I am better at my right side too. I don't use my left side, but if I had to, I could. One year I broke my thumb and It would have been nice to bat lefty. But I couldn't do it then.
