I actually beg to differ that there all the same. I just bought this Wilson Pudge bag for my son http://www.eastbay.com/catalog/productdetail/model_nbr--87817/sku--119463/cm--BSBSPLPRTPEQP/. Bar none the best catchers bag out there. The only problem is they are so popular, they are hard to find in stock, but if you can find one, definitely worth it.

a bag is a bag.

with that being said, that pudge bag is pretty sweet

Get a bag that's easy to get up and on a school bus. If you are starting to play HS ball.
Colleges have more money for bigger buses
pro teams, it would seem to me would have equipment manager to take care of some of the equipment. Last thing i would want to do as a team owner is have one of my 5 million + players a year straining something and could not play.
below is link to a bag made for catchers
http://www.gearguardsports.com/
I got my son one, he is now using a medium size team bag. He loves the bag, but its just to big if you can imagine that. Getting on and off the bus was the reason.

Bryton, I don't think you'll be saying the Pudge bag is, "Bar none the best catchers bag out there", when the side zippers start breaking in less then a season as in the Wilson bags my son had a couple years ago and in most of the catchers' bags we've owned.
I have to agree with cubsphill that, "a bag is a bag", but I'll add "the cheap the better", if you play on a regular basis, you're going to be replacing them frequently anyway.

Yeah Dave, maybe, but it has so much room its sickning. My son loves it and the price is right. Its wide enough that with wheels it doesn't tip. I guess we will have to see how it holds up though, because my kid is hard on his equipment.
Mr. Surprise, if you do a search for this bag, you will find that different sites, have better pictures that show everything for the bag. Trust me when I tell you it has more room then you will need, and nice compartments.

I bought this one for my son as well. It has done well.
And not all bags are created equal of course but they do take quite a beating. It is showing lots of wear after the first season and if makes it through two seasons I'll be shocked.

This is the Easton bag (http://www.batterschoice.com/display_prod.php?prodid=697&sessid=)my son and several of his catcher buddies use. They like them because they got tired of searching through all the individual compartments of the "specialty" bags, they are easy to clean (just empty them and turn 'em inside-out), they're very durable, and at $25.00 you can't beat the price.
http://www.batterschoice.com/images/prod__personaleqbag.jpeg
The only thing they do that the younger kids don't, is they carry their bat (yes, singular . . . my 13U players all show up with 2&3 bats in their bag) in their hands and don't put it in the bag where it could get dinged when tossed around the buses, backs of trucks, and equipment trailers.
In the case of catchers' bag, "less is more".

If anyone is looking for an equipment bag for catcher's I recommend the one at the following link! In my experience it doesn't really matter which bag you purchse because most likely you will be purchasing 1 every year if your kid plays anything above Rec league baseball!

That's great you guys are using bags for 2 and 3 years but we buy new bags and have the boys names and numbers embroidered every year. Could the bags be used for more than one year? Probably in some cases but as a team we want to look sharp, clean and everypone has to match. Just part of having pride in your team and representing your team in a top notch way!

Many of my TB players can barely afford the weekly game fees and the $20.00 for their jersey and hat they have to buy when they join the team, let along fancy embroidered bags.
I believe pride is the effort and teamwork you show on the field, not how you look in the parking lot. JMO  (PM me if you would like to get rid of some of those "old" bags, I have some kids who could put them to good use).

It's lame???? Obviously the expectations and brand of what you call TB baseball is quite different than the SELECT AA, AAA, or Majors level ball played here in Texas. Team presentation is a big part of being a team just like supporting your teammates, showing sportsmanship and showing up for games and practices on time.
It's all part of learning about life through baseball. Try showing up for a job interview or a college entrance interview in a t-shirt and jeans. Appearance MATTERS just like hustle, desire, motivation and any number of other adjectives I could throw out there.
We sell the bags at our yearly Team garage sale fundraiser fruitcake.
Maybe you should withhold your judgments and stop running your mouth about other people you don't know on the computer. I guarantee you would NEVER say that if you were standing in front of me and I made the same point!
Oh well guess anonymity and a computer screen make everyone 9 foot tall and bulletproof huh?

yes, yes i would.
i forgot about the part where pros arent a real team because they dont all use the same equipment.
try showing up to a job interview in a t-shirt and jeans? what the hell does that have to do with anything?
youre talking about freaking baseball, just show up and play well, who the hell cares about how well you show pride in your team by wearing all the same stuff.
did you call me fruitcake? so i'm the fruitcake when you're the one that's preaching coordination with the bags and all... ya, real cute idea.

My son has played catcher for 8 years and this bag is by far the best. Yes it is big but when he hangs it in the corner of the dugout it is just like a locker. It has big wheels so it will roll over a lot of things unlike the other wheel bags that drag across things. This thing will hold everything. Before I bought this bag for him we had to carry 2 bags everywhere we went. He plays other positions besides catcher if the coach needs him too, so he has pretty much everything. Yeah it is on the very high end for bags but he loves it. (Sorry to brag) My son is a very good catcher and a lot of people know of him, so to add to his whole look, when he rolls into the park it does intimidate a lot of kids. Sorry to sound c*&%# but you can see it happen when he rolls onto the field.

The best equipment bag that I have ever bought was made by Ultimate Sports.
I bought it from this site www.shop.beebesports.com
This is the best buy on bags that I have ever found.
They were lower than www.hittingworld.com or www.directsports.com, who sells the same bags.

I have used the Louisville Slugger Hoss model for several years, but as mentioned above, the bats kept getting dinged up.
I recently switched to this bag
http://www.linedrive.com/BASEBALL-EQUIPMENT/Equipment-Bags/Bat-Bags/EASTON-QUAD-BARREL-BAG-BLACK-GREY.axd
It has a separate compartment for bats and plenty of room for mask and gear.
