In this thread we will list hitting drills. The thread is not designed for a whole bunch of discussion, but rather to share what we have. Drills posted here should not violate and copyrights and all citation rules should be observed.

I would like to add here and please Jake if you could put this in the original message. I would like to add that for posters that are posting drills PLEASE post what the drill is designed to do in the heading just as Phantom did. It makes it much easier. Or even a brief description of the drill. This really can help organize things instead of clicking on drill after drill after drill when you are simply looking for weight shift instead of contact for example.

The goal is to practice allowing the ball to travel further on the plate thus hitting inside the ball to drive to opposite field. This is helpful to move runners over as well as train hitters to wait longer on the ball. Often knowing how to wait longer helps batters see the ball better and helps hitters who are in slumps.
A hitter should hit in other stations first to get loose. This right handed hitting station is set-up with a coach tossing behind a screen about 12 feet in front of home plate while another screen is placed on the right side of the infield about 20 feet away from home plate. A coach can stand behind the right side screen while giving instructions.
The idea is for the hitter to hit the opo field screen hard with line drives. The coach tossing the balls, tosses underhanded for controlled placement. No matter where the toss is thrown the hitter learns the apporach is the same, he must wait and allow the ball to drift back to drive to opposite field.
I have found hitters that progress with this drill are some of the best at moving players around the bases. This drill is for team production and should be practiced as much or more than bunting.

Weight shift drill we have the walk up drill.
There is also another one I've read on BBF where the hitter steps down hill, like off the pitcher mound to increase weight shift. I would also add to step up hill making it hard to weight shift forward so the body would have to work harder at it.
PS lets not discuss drills on the sticky, just post drills.

Tee drill, with the rest of the team in the outfield. I think its important to hit to an open field and not to a net/fence so you see your results. Make him hit flys, line drives and grounders to different fields, but dont move the tee. or move the Tee.
This is a discussion on durable tees
