"The Red Sox don't deserve a player like me. During my years here, I've seen how they have mistreated other great players when they didn't want them to try to turn the fans against them."

These were the words of Manny Ramirez this afternoon after rumors of a trade to the Marlins were swirling around ESPN. That's not all though. He followed that up with this.

"The Red Sox did the same with guys like Nomar Garciaparra and Pedro Martinez, and now they do the same with me. Their goal is to paint me as the bad guy. I love Boston fans, but the Red Sox don't deserve me. I'm not talking about money. Mental peace has no price, and I don't have peace here."

If Manny truly wanted out, I think he has it now. His words are essentially a great big "SCREW YOU" to the Red Sox organization. For as much as he's done for the Red Sox, and as much as the Sox fans love him, I think he's truly done in Boston. If I were Theo Epstein, I would definetly go through with that deal to send him to Florida, because it's pretty obvious that he just doesn't care about that organization anymore. The fights with Youkilis and the elderly team affiliate, the slower-than-a-jog thing he did last night against John Lackey while he had a no-hitter going, the fact that he didn't pay attention to the third base coach's signals in the game against the Yankees and went home even though he was instructed to stop, and now this. It would appear that he doesn't listen anymore, he doesn't care anymore, and he, plain and simple, doesn't want to be there anymore.

Here is the story on ESPN.com.

While this comment most likely enraged all of New England, I still don't think it would be smart to just trade him to get him out of here.

Isn't this Manny being Manny at this time of the year....there is a sense of deja vous? Good debate between Steve Phillips and Peter Gammons regarding the merits of trading him or 'managing him' at Boston for the rest of the season.

Boras needs to put a muzzle on Manny.

It is, it's amazing how many people don't realize how this has happened before. I think this is the most likely year for a deal, but I'm not believing anything until I see proof.

Boras needs to put a muzzle on Manny.

He should buy an extra one while he's at it. What's the opposite of preaching to the choir?

All this coming out of Manny's mouth makes me sick. He's one of my favorite players, but he needs to just shut up. What could be so terrible for him in Boston? The fans love him, he makes 20 mil a year and has just won 2 World Series. Look at the big picture Manny, shut up, hit and hustle. I really think he has some sort of relatively serious mental disorder.

And the baseball world cries about Manny once again. No one is surprised.

yeah losing Manny will be a huge lose for the RS and their Nation, but seeing that if he stays till seasons end that the RS more then likely won't pick up the option on him during the off-season....isn't it better for them to get something now while they can?

I mean after all isn't it them (RS powers that be) who just several seasons ago placed him on waivers?

I don't see much love lost here on either side when they do depart ways

Still a star but declining , if the BoSox get two or three good players for Manny while dumping millions in cash with him let him and his problems go
Maybe the Marlins would finally draw a few of the many latins in the area to the park
