Looks like you all should be acquire Manny sometime today. I'm hearing Hermida, Willingham are likely to go along with Mike Stanton.

If Florida pulls this off, do they suddenly become the favorite in the East?

This would be good for the Marlins. I'm surprized that a team in Miami isn't better. This would help them a lot.

See, I don't know. Sure, Manny will make their lineup great, but the rest of the lineup needs to keep up what they are doing. They're a young team and I still feel like they'll fall apart

I'll give credit to the ownership for wanting to win, but I can't help but wonder if this is also another attempt to stimulate interest in a city that cares nothing about baseball. Manny can come in and lead the Marlins to the World Series, but would Miami care?
The Marlins have 2 world championships in their history, but can't draw flies unless it is the playoffs. The attendance has been pitiful this year for an exciting young team. It was bad in 2003 until the playoffs. Manny Ramirez or a new stadium will not solve this problem. Miami only cares about the Dolphins and Hurricanes, not baseball.

The main reason why they don't deserve a team. Give a team to a city up in the Northeast that is guaranteed to garner more fans. How about somewhere in New Jersey so people don't have to be Met fans? The Trenton Marlins.

How about the Montreal Marlins?
(well, Montreal will probably rename the team but still...)
With the Rays starting to be a draw I think that it's just possible that the Marlins have simply burnt their bridges in Miami. Certainly the ownership of Jeff the Impaler isn't one to inspire confidence.

Bud Selig hates Montreal. There will never be a team in Montreal as long as "Bud Light" is around.
