Can I get some help with this swing; I seem to not get full extension post contact??? Any advice would be helpful; hitting has been okay but just want to improve

Not bad. How old are you and heavy is that bat? Looks like you are struggling a bit with the weight.

Try bringing your hands up higher and further back if you are looking for a swing with more extension. You appear to be dropping the hands just a little bit before starting your swing. Still looks like good hip rotation.

The big thing I notice is that you have a huge step with your striding leg. I would recommend spreading your feet a bit more, and shortening your stride so that you are only stepping 3 or 4 inches towards the pitcher. With a front step that big, so many things could go wrong- you could step too far or too close to the plate, you could end up on the heel of your front foot, you could end up hitting with a front leg that is either too straight or too bent. JMO.

I'm 12 and the bat is a 29" 19oz; i don't find it heavy; my dad is saying it appears that after i make contact the bat goes out of the zone quickly with out full extension; thanks for the help

Rule of Thumb --- A player needs the heaviest bat that they can swing with a smooth level motion at full speed. If a player is not able to swing at full speed, they are loosing power!

Here is a list of average lengths of bat used by various age groups. This is a nation average.

I agree with tip184, technique can go along way. Just work on this at a slow speed until you can work your way up to actually hitting balls with the right technique.

Hard to see for me without being able freeze frame reliably, but it looks like as you go thru the hit zone your hands drop down low...as low as your belly button. They also get pretty far away from your body. Do you focus on flattening the bat thru the zone? This could be taking you off plane. The lead arm plane should stay pretty close to the plane of the shoulders. To do this your lead hand should stay pretty close to your back shoulder a little longer than it is in your current swing. Perhaps a little less hands might help. Your hips and shoulders look pretty good.

Try not attempting to get your "face behind the ball" when you swing. Looks like a lot of your problems mainly stem from your head "dropping" over the plate and pulling your entire body with it. That doesn't mean stand straight up, that means maintain your posture and keep your head as still as possible. If you hit better with your "face behind the ball", that's fine, just START that way.
