Alright, lets discuss who has a good shot at winning the 2008 NL Rookie of the Year award. Feel free to add players who you feel have a good shot at winning it. Or discuss whatever.

As a Braves fan, I feel that I have to add Jair Jurrjens to the list, here are his numbers so far.....

Jair Jurrjens
10-5; 3.02era; 1.269whip

Who cares? It's a fluke.

I can picture the old WDIV game-closer from the 80's, with the grumbling Tiger with one of those old fashioned ice packs on his head.

Seriously, Jurrjens should be in the discussion as long as he's pitching as he does.

Geovany Soto

.275 AVG, .353 OBP, 17 HR, 58 RBI

Plus solid defense behind the plate.

No doubt it is Soto, but the Japanese contingent will vote for Fukudome anyway.

Edinson Volquez

12-5, 2.77 ERA, 134 K's in 126 2/3 IP, 1.31 WHIP

I don't think he used up his rookie eligibility yet -- could be wrong though.

He's not eligible. He had 80 innings pitched in three years before the season began. If he had 50 innings or below, he would have been eligible. This isn't taking into consideration if he spent 45 days or more on MLB roster, which would have made him ineligible, too.

So basically, at this point in time, it's Soto vs. Jurrjens unless there's a player that someone has overlooked.
