I have been wondering if any of you have hosted a small "Round Robin" type tourny to raise some funds for your team? If so how did you set it up, and is this a plausible idea.

We just hosted a 10u tourney 2 weeks ago, we ended up raising 1400.00 for our team for next year. We did also get the concessions and that is where most of the work came in. the biggest advise I can offer is getting paid umps set up in advance. We had some HS kids gonna help us and they didn't show so us parents ended up doing it. Come Bracket play and none of the parents wanted to ump any game but our own. I ended up as Manager of the team umping another game while my team was playing.
We had 3 team meetings prior to the tourney, I think the 2 hardest things were getting the word out(give yourself a few months if you can), had 1 team cancel the day after we made schedules. and trying to manage the umping. Otherwise making 1400.00 was a great benefit for our kids for next year, we will get some nice uniforms unlike the ones we have been wearing and have some money for a couple tourneys.
good luck
