im not quite hitting through the ball. those of you that have seen clips of me have seen how i get to contact, make contact, and in the next frame my wrists have rolled and i choke my follow through with my hands.
ive been trying tirelessly to keep my top hand palm up as long as possible after contact and what not and its great for a few times looking at it on video then ill try to put more effort into my swing and i go back to the way i was doing before.
so i guess what im looking for is drills for hitting through the ball because apparently im not getting it.
im going to try to get video tomorrow off of live pitching because something tells me this is a tee/soft toss problem only...

Your future coaches have a good drill on how to correct this. They are big on extending through the ball.

Throw the bat at the pitcher. Try and do it in a direct line.

Something as simple as how you grip the bat can cause you to rollover early, since you've been on the forum for awhile I am assuming you know the proper way, but a simple check before each swing may give you an answer.

yup, it was. the only problem is i would sometimes get back into the habit of chocking myself off.
there is one big thing i gained after hitting for an hour a little bit ago... i can really feel when i dont extend through now.
as soon as i get this down i can really focus on my lower body and improving that... though im trying to at the same time.

i have the middle knuckles on my bottom hand lined up with the bottom knuckles on my top hand.

Here's how Don Mattingly shows the grip and it has worked well for my hitters; he calls it lining up your "door knocker knuckles". With the hands aligned this way, it anatomically allows the top hand to face skyward in the swing longer, preventing it from rolling over too quickly.

From what you describe, your grip may be causing you to rollover just past contact, aligning your hands as shown in the pictures may alleviate your problem . . . give it a try.

while we're on it, does anyone have pics of guys with different grips? i mean photos where you can clearly see it. i searched some of the bigger names and couldnt see it clear enough.

Like with anything else, more reps you get, the more it will be engrained. They do it alot in the fall too, so sooner or later you'll get it down.

I have to agree with Beemax and ask why are you doing this?

when it gets to the swing on a higher level it could be as simple as breathing in or out, when you swing.
I like to breath out to help relax my body and to be able to let my body turn better.
