I hope this works. Not real sure how to chop the video down to one swing, so I guess take your pick.

I like the way he loads and uses his hands to release, hitting sweet and spanking the low pitch..like to see him handle some high ones BUT I like his swing.

Here is another set. It's been a long time since watching film - I can see that there is the habit of keeping the weight on that back foot. I wonder if this is a problem with shifting weight to the ball.

Sometimes, i think the front foot lands a little bit to the right of the left foot (the are not on a straight line). That could probably hinder hip rotation. (not completely 100% sure on that though.)

It appears to me that his hands are ahead of his hips. He needs to lead with the hips more. He also needs to "sit" more instead of standing straight upright into his swing.

One big swing, no unload. An inconsistent hitter.

I am not an expert in any means, but I do play ball and these swings to me look like something that is often overlooked and a bad habit to get into... they look like BP swings... I think if this guy was to step in the box and actually face a pitcher his swing would look nothing like this... I don't know maybe its just me but it just seems he is going through the motions and trying to just get alot of cuts instead of quality cuts

I agree with the weight on the back foot at the end of the swing. He falls backwards at the end of many swings. Weight should be on the front foot after the bat goes through the zone. Also, there is a lot of uppercut in the swing which could lead to many K's. Although on few he came straight through to the ball. He seems to have pretty good bat speed. Very workable.

tweaking what MrSurprise wrote:
I think if this guy was to step in the box and actually face a pitcher his swing analysis would be worth it.

He's got no balance or body control AT ALL.
His stride does not get his feet far enough apart and he's on his heels, and he comes off the ball. And his legs are too straight. All of which contribute to the fact that he can't stay balanced at the end of the swing.
Bend the knees more.
Get feet apart more.
Get on the balls of the feet.
Stay down.

Very good point. These definately are batting practice swings. Probably most of the swings are "2-0 or 3-1" cuts. I did get some low pitches (the last swing of the first video).
I don't think I have ever really learned properly how to get my hips involved, or even my stride. I think Steve nailed it when he told me it looks like I am a "arms hitter." I usually don't break out the cuts I took in the videos, I was just doing the routine of trying to hit a shot off the sign in the back of the cage.
One thing I will definately take with me into the next workout is balance, involving the hips, and perhaps spreading out my stance and seeing how comfortable it is.
I don't have a problem striking out (I think I fanned 2 or 3 times last season in 50-60 plate appearances, and have K'd one time this season in about 30 PA's), and we have some pretty good pitchers in our league - several ex pros and D1 players. I'm 33 years old - I have no future in baseball and only play because I love the game. The more I learn, the more I can offer to my son and any kids I get to work with in the future.
I'll see if I can get some game footage from tomorrow's games so I can get some feedback. Thanks guys.
