Cool. If I could have 3 channels they would be:

1. MLB Network
2. ESPNNEWS
3. FSN Wisconsin

Only have one of those though.

Wait, Time Warner Cable customers can get this channel if we buy the Extra Innings package, or is it free?

It be will separate from Extra Innings (for the customers - cable and satellite providers were required to carry the MLB Network if they wanted to keep carrying the highly successful Extra Innings, which is why the MLB Network will launch in 50 million homes) and should be in the same sports package as NBA TV and the Speed Channel.

Do you know what will happen for Charter?

Not for sure, but Charter offers Extra Innings. If they want to keep offering it for their customers then they'll have to carry the MLB Network.

This has a preview of what the typical programming will be: http://www.sportsbusinessjournal.com/article/59570

I wouldn't be surprised if they added in the minor league all star games and playoffs to their live game broadcasts as well as the aforementioned games

Does anyone know if Verizon Fios will get it?

Doesn't Verizon just use DirecTV?

A good way to tell if your cable company will carry the MLB Network is if they offer the Extra Innings package. Extra Innings has been highly profitable and successful for the cable companies, and the League said if they want to keep proving Extra Innings they need to carry the MLB Network, which is why so many have jumped on early.

Nope. Verizon provides Fios which is digitial cable.

what about the criminalistic cablevision out here on long island? they offer extra innings in like the iO premium package ( which i dont have, so the channels just say we have to order them). i do get speed channel though so should i get it in a package? im guessing cablevision will move every channel to the highest level of digital tv so we can pay the highest price so they can get more money, cuz apparently we need a box to view channels now due to the switch over in feb 09, theyre lieing to us as usual :sigh::confused::ughh

No promises, but if you get Speed, NBA TV, ESPNNEWS, the NFL Network and channels like that then you should be ok.

If you have cable, then you shouldn't need to switch over in Feb. 09, that only applies to people with UHF bunny ear antennas on their TV.

i know that, cablevision released a letter stating that over a year ago. then at the begging of june they took 10 channels away and out them on the digital lineup but didnt lower regular cable price so now its like we are paying more for less. they said it mandatory that they do it because the FCC is requiring everyone to update their cable in feb 09, which a total lie because as you said only people with antenaes need to upgrade and its not just cablevision either. i read that comcast and other companies are doing it to get more money out of people and people complained to the FCC about it and they said they cant handle the way companies treat their customers....wtf? they are lieing and being decietful so they take more of our money. yea theyre a monopoly now, but everyone will switch to fios because cable companies cant get away with their crap. i also read that the fcc will sell channels 52-69 in 09.....wtf SNY comes on channel 60 so i wont be able to get my mets games anymore? thats probally the only thing that will piss me off so much ill probally leave cable because no one can really afford $250/month for tv these days. and i dont get espnews, nba channel, nfl network...i just get speed channel because it used to be on basic cable then moved to digital at its reguar channel (69, so it was placed on basic digital, which i have in the living room but no other tv in the house)

they basaically said we need a digital box rented for 7.50 a month for every tv, then the digital tc fee, and then the fees of the cable packages on top of that....its getting ridcolous now. sorry for ranting so long, cable is just pissing me off now, i dont want my tv's to go black in feb 09 with just ch 2-13...this isnt the 50's.

I suggest you guys all move to Time Warner Cable. ESPNEWS, Speed Channel, and I believe NBATV all are free (not sure about NFLTV). You can upgrade to HDTV at any time (if you have the correct type of tv, of course) for free, and you get tons of channels and a couple dozen on demand channels too and even forty or so music channels. Great service, and I don't even think it costs too much (not sure, I'm too young to be doing the bills :) )

Ohhh, I just realized that Dish Network probably won't have this. I will have to switch then.
