- Cooper was elected and therefore flees my list. Another look at Ernie Lombardi and Al Oliver result in their removal for the second time. Kiki Cuyler's peak is also just under where I want it to be, making him a consistently "very good" but rarely "great" player. He's gone after being on my ballot since I joined this project well over a year ago. I nearly removed Ross Youngs a few cycles ago, but I have now done so. There's too many what-ifs and I'm not sure how much his fading health played into his less than stellar final two seasons while his peak would be on the low-end of HOF RFs in the first place. Manush, another person I've been voting for since I first entered the project, also falls victim to a Win Shares analysis. His Win Shares per 162 is woeful and aside from a fluke 1937 was washed up by age 32.

Pretty much--but the ballot does have to pass the "smell" test. For example, if the best player on your list is Mario Mendoza, it's hard to say it's a good-faith ballot by someone who has a clue. If it's only a homer ballot (say all Mets), it's at least questionable. But a reasonable ballot meeting the rules will be counted. We are at a point where the project may not last much longer, so I will confess that a ballot which looks designed to ensure the project's demise will get a lot more scrutiny.

The "DaveKingman" ballot has been made by a person who is under a suspension from the site. I will not be counting his ballot, as doing so would reward his attempt at circumventing the rules. Note: I deleted his ballot.

I have also amended the rules to indicate that a voter must be a BBF user "in good standing", which DaveKingman, as an alternate name of a suspended user, is not.

We've still got at least one more regular three week cycle elections after this one. It's very much an open question as to whether we will go further than that. That said, I'm in agreement on the quality of our list vis-a-vis Cooperstown. If we want to continue the discussion, though, I suggest we move it to the discussion thread.
