Did well in his two stints with the Dodgers, but ran out of gas in 2004. The first sucessfull Japanese baseball player in the US

Nomo had a nice career, 123-109 record, 4.24 ERA, 1995 RoY, two 4th place CYA finishes, four 200-K seasons, and two no-hitters (one in each league), including one in Coors Field.

I was reading some stories from Japan and saw that even this morning they are still talking of Nomo coming back to Japan to play. It may be just a couple of writers trying to force a conclusion to creat a story with, but it did cause me to pause to wait to see what will happen.

It may also just be the case that he may be joining the Senior League of Japan. It is nothing like what was in the USA in 90. This is a highly competitive league where the games draw crowds and the players are still filled with the honour of being on the field.

One memorable windup.

Thanks, Hideo.

The guy parlayed three real good seasons into a 12 year career. Not shabby.
