Travel Ball Tryout Advice Needed

My son is 9 years old and wants to tryout for travel ball (Federation Ball). The teams in our area are starting to post dates for their tryouts.

Is it ok to go to a teams tryouts and then if you make the team delay giving them a definite answer until we have explored all the other teams?

Or do you only go to the teams tryouts you really want to be a part of? If thats the case, what happens if my son is good enough for some of the travel teams, but not ALL of the travel teams and we go to the wrong tryouts?

Any advice and/or suggestions would be great.

In my experience, both as a player and a coach, you try-out to make the team. If you are going out there to check out the level of competition and maybe get a few swings in, but are not serious about sticking with the team, you better let the coaches know well in advance.
