Tell me, is Dan Uggla's game tonight the worst in All Star history? So far, 0-4 with three whiffs, a rally killing doubleplay, and THREE errors!

He has had an absolutely abysmal performance, the kind that's going to stick with him either until the end of his career or whenever he has a big game on the national stage.

it isn't like utley has had a good game Mr. Phillies. Hopefully when Lidge comes in, he doesn't blow it. Although I agree. The last couple innings have been Uggly.

it's as bad as any performance I've seen, even though the third error was a tough chance on the bad hop. But man, it's a tough night, that's for sure.

Man...I actually felt sorry for Dan. Especially after that last whiff!
I know the guy just wanted to disappear after that 3rd error!
Definately a night to forget for him!

Too bad he won't be allowed to forget.

In the year 2017...
Dan Uggla's kid: "Dad, is it true that you played in the 2008 All-Star Game?"
Dan Uggla: "Uh, yeah."
Dan Uggla's kid: "Awesome! How did you do?"
Dan Uggla: "Well......uh........umm......uh........I threw out the winning run at the plate in the bottom of the 10th inning."
Dan Uggla's kid: "Wow! That's great, dad."
Dan Uggla: Thanks. Can we talk about something else now? Don't you have any homework to do?"

Um, 1-3 with no E's vs 0-4, 3 Ks, that bad DP ball and three boots, and you're comparing? :homeplate:
Uggla has been having a great season so far, but this one game is likely to cost him alot when people think back on Uggla '08. A real shame IMO.

Yeah, I feel bad for him.
What are some other awful ASGs people have had?

Wow. I knew Uggla had a bad game, but I didn't realize it was THIS bad...
From Elias...
"Dan Uggla became the first player to ever make three errors, strike out three times and ground into a double play in a regular season game, postseason game or All-Star Game.
(GIDPs have been recorded since 1933 in the National League and since 1940 in the American League.)"

Poor Dan was mentally checked and couldn't concentrate after his first error. You could tell that it was wearing on him and he needed a break. It also didn't help that he 0-2 and what name threw him a 67 mph eephus that buckled his knees right after a couple of 95 mph fastballs.

Oh and this is not the worst All-Star performance by far.

Uggla had the worst ASG I have ever seen, but then I have only been watching them for 50 years.

Mr. Uggla will be back. See ya in St. Louis, 2009.

My dad and I had high hopes that Russell Martin would be batting against Mariano Rivera and end up winning this game for the NL. Low and behold, the match-up actually occurs and Martin ends up on base. All Uggla had to do was wait for a pitch he could attempt a sac fly on and instead he kills everything and sends the game into extras by GIDP. Never have I been more disappointed while watching an All Star game.

The irony of Uggla's poor performance was that it was AL coach Joe Girardi who insisted Uggla become a second baseman. The Marlins front office had planned on him playing LF and Willingham staying at catcher in the spring of 2006. Anyone who has seen Uggla play on a regular basis already knew he has no range and stone hands at 2B. So while it was a bad night for him, not at all surprising.

...and don't forget about the most humiliating chanting you've ever heard. I was in the RF bleachers, and once we got to the 11th inning, everyone started chanting "hit the ball to Uggla" and "let Uggla pitch" just to get the game over. I've never seen a player have a worse game...and he didn't even start!

Wow.
Hammaker never recovered from the 1983 debacle. I think Uggla has a brighter future than what Hammaker did, but all it takes is one game to get the yips.

Uggla's errors didn't lead to 1 unearned run so no big deal to me. As far as the bat go's? nothing different then another o'fer.
Uggla made the play at the plate when it counted.
If anything it will just add to Lidge's bad performances on the national stage.

All bow down to Uggla for forcing a runner out at home from 90 feet away!

He came through when he really needed to. And he did need to make a play as soon as he could have. Once bad stuff starts, you need to stop it as soon as you can. Look at Rick Ankiel. He never recovered as a pitcher from that playoff game because he wasn't able to stop the bleeding right off.
