On a scale of 1-10, what would you rate it?
Also, state your criteria after voting.

The game started off so-so but these last several innings with some big-time plays has been exciting.

I am going to give it a 7. My reasons:
1.There wasn't much action and at times it seemed as everyone on the field was dead.
2.Nowhere near enough all-star plays.
3.Pitching was shabby.
4.Grady Sizemore and Evan Longoria were really the only ones that played decent.

Because I would either be happy with a great underdog win by the NL or a walk-off by the AL. Either way, it was going to be great.

Now rate the game.

I didn't think so.
I actually thought Longoria would of gotten it.
When Uggla came up with the bases jacked...I was actually rooting for him to hit a grandslam and everyone would have forgotten about his unforgettable night...thus earning him the MVP and redeeming himself.

No All-Star game should be allowed to go into extra innings. This whole "now it counts" crap needs to be dropped, the managers should be encouraged to use all the players in nine innings, and the game should be on early enough for kids to watch.

Francona totally mismanaged his bullpen- should have had the first three pitchers do 3 innings each. Then absolutely 2-3 each in extras.

That had to be near the top of any game list, but then again I am one of the fools that were there in 2002 that were given Torre taking a great game away from us when he took his team to the clubhouse.
It is too bad that Pittsburgh and LA don't have more air time. They have two amazing players that not enough people know about. Hopefully seeing those plays will help. Amzing throws and fantastic plate work.
Bunts in the ASG? I love it!!!

yankee stadium does not have the type of rightfield wall that would permit suzuki to luckily get an inside-the-parker.

Makes the concept of the AS game more of a farce when fans boo a player on their own team - Papplebon was playing for the AL team not the Red Sox, and presumably the majority of fans were AL affiliated.
I got sick of the commentators continually carrying on about the pitchers having to to play a couple of days after they had played in a regular game.....surely these players have the option to say no to the ASG if they are worried about their health.
I wish it had been called off as a draw just to see what the MLB would do as far as home field advantage in the WS. I guess that is why they ensured the game kept going till there was a result.
and the game should be on early enough for kids to watch. fair comment honus.....at least the kids are on school vacation. Great timng for the people of the West Coast and Hawaii!!

I'd have to give this All Star Game a 10.
I just love close games in late innings/extra innings. Players had to make great defensive plays with their backs up againts the wall, like Nate McClouth's throw to the plate, Miguel Tejadas throw to first, Christian Guzman's multiple nice plays, and a lot more. And the game ended in intense fashion too, with a close play at the plate.
Games like this are the best baseball has to offer, in my opinion.

a drive to the 421' marker in mirabelli's alley at mays field is not luck contrasted to suzuki's drive that was overplayed in right field at last year's all-star game.
a 421' drive is gonna get you some bases.
suzuki was lucky that the ball caromed off the wall in the opposite direction of where the outfielder was headed.

I think it was great... compared to other recent All Star Games.
The ASG is normally very dull for me, though for some reason I almost always watch it. I've seen countless regular season games that were more compelling than any ASG.

I had a great time. the opening ceremony was amazing to see. Corey Hart threw me a ball during BP. The game itself was good but everyone has seen more exciting ones. I gave it an 8. The only bad thing the whole night was missing my train back to nj and hangin around till 4:30am, although while sitting in Penn station i did see Francona and Veriteck get escorted to their train around 4. Not that I really cared but was just like huh that was interesting. We were talking to the cop that walked them to the train and asked him if they held the last boston train up 30 mins just for them. He said no, they had a private train for them and their families express them rite back to boston.

The AL wins what may be the best All-Star Game in the event's history. For the seventh year in a row, the AL has home-field advantage in the World Series :)
But, it might not matter for the Indians this year :(

Gave it an 8, because the NL lost, but mostly because the managers still feel compelled to get everyone into the game too early. I love extra innings and all, of course, but it seems to be a bit much in an ASG.
