Half the year is gone already... With that being said, who would you choose for MVP, CY, and ROY? Feel free to voice your opinions and include anything else you feel relevant...

AL MVP: Grady Sizemore -- He's an offensive force, with a great power/speed combination and can get on base (although he's not a top guy in this category). then consider he plays a premium defensive position. Then consider he's a very good fielder at said defensive position. Josh Hamilton might be getting more attention thanks to his gaudy RBI totals, but he's actually only a hair better offensively and nowhere near as good defensively.

NL MVP: You can't go wrong with Berkman or Chipper, but I think Albert Pujols has caught up to and passed those guys, especially because he's amazing in the field. A .460 OBP? Seriously?

Cy Youngs, NL Rookie: Haven't paid enough attention to vote wisely.

AL Rookie: Evan Longoria -- He didn't start the season in the majors, but deserves his spot on the All-Star team. His bat is very good and so is his defense. He's already the second-best third baseman in the AL. All other rookies are fighting for second place.

You would be a fool not to give Ian Kinsler the MVP. Just look at his numbers.

I'm gonna put in my mid-season vote for the AL Cy Young for Roy Halladay. Here's my argument: Top 5 in the league every major stat for starters

3rd in Wins - 11 (and could be leading the league if his offense could have supported him in the early going when he pitched 4 consecutive CG and lost 3 of them.)

5th in ERA - 2.71 (and expect this to steadily drop)

4th in SO - 121 (a mere 5 back of his league leading teammate)

1st in IP - 146.1 (a lead of 17 IP or almost 2 complete games)

1st in CG - 7 (more than double 2nd place and more than most teams)

1st in SHO - 4-way tie

In short, a workhorse who goes into every start expecting to go the distance, and while not a fireball throwing power pitcher, still manages to dominate more often than not.

No disrespect to Cliff Lee, who has had an awesome first half, but once you get past wins and ERA, he's off the radar.

Just my :twocents:

AL MVP: Ian Kinsler, great numbers for a dismal team. Should be starting tomorrow not Pedroia.

NL MVP: Chipper, Flirting with .400 through June... Enough said.

AL Cy Young, Halladay, reasons listed above.

NL Cy Young, Webb... Slowed down a lot bu hot start deserves recognition.

NL Rookie: no doubter, Soto... fukudome is not a rookie either...

AL Rookie: Longoria... stud for a young up and coming team...

NL Cy Young: Tim Lincecum.

Timmy has won 11 games. On this year's Giants team, that is an amazing feat. He has a 2.57 ERA and 135 K in 129 2/3 IP. 'Nuff said.

Oh, and the Baseball Tonight guys agree with me here.

Only including what people have actually achieved and not what they might do in the second half, id go with

AL MVP: Hamilton - If he played on one of the bigger teams he would be in much more MVP discussions.
NL MVP: So much choice here! Berkman, Utley, Jones, Uggla, Pujols. All in all, id go for Utley, but any of those guys wouldn't disappoint me.

AL CYA: Lee - This guy really came out of nowhere this year. Hope it holds it together.
NY CYA: Webb or Lincecum. Right now id go with Webb.

Can I get an explanation on Quentin, please? While he's been a nice surprise, he hasn't been one of the top ten players in the league. His homeruns are nice, but the OBP isn't great and bunch of people, including Grady Sizemore, have out-slugged him. He plays a non-premium defense position and is a poor fielder.

Maybe you need to check the Rangers record. Hardly dismal.

How is Webb the NL CYA winner? Is he even the best pitcher on his team?

. GS IP H R ER BB SO W L ERA ERA+ WHIP K/9 BIPA
Brandon Webb 20 131.0 119 56 47 33 112 13 4 3.23 140 1.160 7.69 .283
Dan Haren 19 125.2 98 43 38 22 112 8 5 2.72 166 0.955 8.02 .249

Haren is better pretty much across the board.

Sure.

Well, when I think of the MVP, I usually like to favor players on teams that are playoff bound or missed the playoffs by less than 5 games unless someone was by far greater than any of the other candidates. Carlos Quentin has hit the 2nd most HRs in the AL, he is 2nd in RBIs in the AL, he has a .900 OPS which isn't has great as some others but still ranks up there. He has also been a surprise to me so that tends to lean my vote towards him

Haren gets no run support. What a shame.

Maybe you need to check the Rangers record. Hardly dismal.

they are 7.5 out of top spot right now.... and they have 3 'apparent' MVP candidates, bradley, hamilton and kinsler... maybe i should have said dismal pitching staff, with a mediocre record...
