I need help finding a proper wooden bat. My brother is playing for a 28 and over amateur baseball league, and he has broken about his 7th or 8th in not even as many weeks. I mean he has barely made it through a game without having to buy another bat.

Ok, the types we've bought so far and his swing. He has broken 3 Mizuno Maple's that cost about $70 at Dick's; 3 Rawling's Big Stick's-$25, and a couple other ash or maple bats alike.
Now, his swing. He swings with a lot of power, and not so much technique. and I dare say he's going to learn how better to swing and pick pitches before he breaks his, and my, wallet.

My question is--What type of DURABLE composite type bat should we get. I don't mind a little investment if it means no more trips to the sporting goods store, know what i mean. i saw Baum, and then i saw some that are a maple/bamboo mix, but who knows.

please help!

You have several good choices:

1) DeMarini Composite- $120
2) Louisville Slugger Composite $80
3) Brett Brothers w/ Fiberglass Sleeve $60
4) Baum $130
5) Viper w/ Composite sleeve. $60 ?

Use the search feature on this board, this topic has been covered a couple times.

I'm sure others will give some good advice.

The Demarini Composites, half wood and aluminium grip, are great and made to last for a very long time. They survived two seasons for both my high school and summer league teams.
The Mizuno Bamboos are also durable and have a 90 day guarantee..I practiced with this bat and it lasted for over 3 months so this is also a safe choice

Hoosier Bat Company makes great bats. durable and good prices.
check out their site: http://www.hoosierbat.com/home.html

the website needs some work. it might be easier to call them to order.

quite a few professionals use their bats. I have a few and they are great.

get a demarini 243 composite or one of the brett bat composites. dont even think about a baum bat.

Increase the weight of the wood instead of buying -3 wood bats.. for that matter a 33" 32oz/33oz bat won't be prone to breaking as say a 33" 29oz... plus the ball will go farther... Some pro's even go +1/1.5 oz heavier than lenght....

Hows about the Baum Monster isnt able to go up to +6 or little more? I mean its ment for BP but you could get one like +1/2 and it might work. Do those weigh more also?

Get a Zorian. They are custom maple bats that are hard to break they cost $85 for maple or $65 for ash. The owner Rob is really nice and he will do what you want it comes in about 3 weeks.:homeplate:
