IMO the advantage of the buffalo versions is that they are virtually broken in and ready for game use ... or at least they will be within a few days. The disadvantage is that they don't last as long. Typically I've only gotten my buffalo gloves to last a year.

The versions with a Kangaroo leather back take about 2wks to properly break-in, but will last about 2yrs.

I personally like the feel and action of the buffalo versions ... but they are expensive and don't last as long.

I haven't weighed the gloves.

I like Nokona's buffalo gloves because they break-in within a few days and are ready for use. I like the Kangaroo backed gloves because they break in after 2wks of use. Both have a great feel once broken-in, although I have a preference for the buffalo versions.

As for the cowhide, I've found these gloves take a lot longer to break-in. Even after 4wks they aren't fully game ready.

When I need a replacement glove fast I go with the buffalo version. If I can wait a few weeks before needing a glove to be game ready, then I give the kangaroo backed glove serious consideration. I stay away from their cowhide versions because they are very stiff and take too long to break-in relative to what else is available. The big plus with the cowhide version is that once they are broken in they will last for several years ... but for me, I find it a pain to go through a month long break-in process and I don't like artificial means of breaking in gloves as I've always had more success breaking in the gloves by just using them.

The buckskin is heavy but will last forever. The buffalo leather is awesome - they last much longer than one year in my experience. I would go buffalo if you can afford it.

The best part is they are made in the USA!

I just bought a Nokona buffalo last night, so it should ship today. I play pretty casually, so do you think the glove will last for several years? I do hope it isn't as floppy as people say the kangaroo is, but I guess I'll find out soon enough. Thankfully the site I bought it from has a great return policy, so if I don't like it I'll try another one.

i just went to the store to check out some nokona gloves and it seems like most nokona gloves, esp the buffalo ones, are good for playing catch but probably not as good for a game (for infielders)...i say this because nokona's are really soft (some would say "floppy"), and personally, being a SS, i need a harder glove for those line drives and grounders, but if you're just playing catch, the glove truly feels like butter. so...i think i'm gonna stick with rawlings as my gamer and have the nokona when i play long toss.
o yea, one other thing, i'm getting a nokona glove because it fits my hand...NOT because it's made in the US...i would get it if it were made in Japan, China, Italy, England, Mexico...i honestly don't get ppl that strictly wear gloves that are only made in the US...if other countries are good enough to make other high end products, some of which including leather, they are probably skilled enough to make baseball gloves

I have a cowhide AMG1200 and expect it to last forever. Even cheap gloves will last forever under casual use (assuming you take reasonbly good care of them).

I think you will like your Nokona - I would never buy a different brand after using them the last few years. The Buffalo leather is outstanding. Not too flimsy as stated above IMHO.
