Let's have some fun. Can you name a famous TV/movie character that was known for wearing a particular team's baseball cap? Two come to mind right away.

I don't know about famous but the Orioles have at least two:

The Elaine Bennes episode of Seinfeld with an O's cap in Steinbrenner's box.
Jason Bateman in a movie last year called The Kingdom or something like that.

Didn't Ron Howard always have a ballcap on?

Yes, that and occasional references to Tony Paco's Chili (based in Toledo). The Tom Seleck is classic!

Did Clint Eastwood, as "Dirty" Harry Callahan, ever wear a SF Giants cap? I don't have a good memory.

Didn't Cheech Marin make a movie where he wore a faded Dodgers cap?

And Tony Danza was always wearing his Yankees jacket in TAXI.

Born in East LA

The song was funny as hell, too.

The internet is amazing. I'd been trying to recall my favorite baseball cap movie character. I knew it was from the 80s and the story was set in Nicaragua and featured a rebel wearing an Orioles cap and referencing Dennis Martinez. Finally a Google search on "Martinez Orioles Cap Movie" led me to this site: Reelbaseball.net (http://www.reelbaseball.net/) and this entry:

1983 Under Fire (Tertiary) Directed by Robert Spottiswoode. Written by Clayton Froham and Ron Shelton. Produced by Anna Roth and Jonathan Taplin/Orion Pictures. Starring Nick Nolte, Ed Harris, Gene Hackman, Joanna Cassidy, and Alma Martinez. The story of photographer Russell Price (Nolte) covering the war in Nicaraqua in 1979 and his battle to stay neutral. When the guerillas have Price take a picture of their leader Rafael, who's believed to be dead, Price gets drawn into the conflict. Pedro (Eloy Casados) autographs a baseball for Claire (Cassidy) to bring back to the states and present to Dennis Martinez (major league pitcher born in Nicaragua). He then puts on a Baltimore Orioles cap and throws a hand-grenade like a fast ball. And just before he is shot, Pedro says to tell Martinez that his curve ball is better than Martinez’s curve ball.

As a fan of Martinez and the O's that scene, from an otherwise forgettable movie, remained in my mind. BTW, Reelbaseball list baseball references in films up to 2002.

Sandler is from Manchester, NH...shame on him.
I still liked him for "Opera Man" and other singing bits on SNL despite his terrible movies, but no more.

hes actually one of us...

San Fran fan by birth, New York fan by choice.

As long as he doesn't sport a Jets or Dolphins hat he could wear whatever baseball team's cap he wants.

David Letterman is a big fan of vintage uniforms and caps. Obviously he doesnt wear them on his show but sometimes you will see pictures of him in an old NY Cuban jersey, or Indianapolis Clown Cap etc

I don't have a pic, but the long-billed trout fishing cap that "Smalls" wore in Sandlot has to be one of the ugliest ever used in a baseball film. Thank goodness The Jet gave him a new cap (and glove)!
