Alright, I know this is a bit of a risk, putting myself out there like this, but there are a lot of peole whose opinion I respect on this board. A nearby D2 university is looking for a head softball coach. This is a position at this particular school that I am extremely interested in. I've applied for a number of head softball positions over the last couple of years with only 1 interview opportunity. Prior to getting into softball, I also applied for a number of D3 baseball jobs, getting just a couple of interviews.
I know a lot of it has to do with knowing the right people and right place, right time stuff. I also know I have 2 strikes against me for a softball position because I am not a female, and none of my college coaching experience is in softball. I just see so many young, inexperienced coaches getting college jobs and running the programs into the ground.
I have a lot of information put together in my coaching portfolio that I have prepared to show how I would build a championship program. I think I interview well, it's just a mater of actually getting an interview. I'm looking for any suggestions on improving my resume and/or cover letter to improve my chances--things to change, add, delete. Negative or positive suggestions are both welcome as long as it is constructive criticism. Here's the link to my resume:
