Ok everyone. I have had a lot of people tell me that my son needs to try and swing like Albert Pujols. Trust me, I know every player has their own swing, but we can all emulate someone.
So, look at the picture of these swings below, and someone explain to me where there is a lot of rotational in his swing (Im only asking because Im not competely clear on what a rotational swing is compared to tradtional or whatever). It looks like in most of his swings he is upright and sometimes seems to be lunging forward even. Thanks.
More upright with what appears to me no tilt.

This one now appears to have tilt.

This one, seems to lunging for the ball. Outside pitch?

You can find frame by frame breakdowns of his entire swing if you look hard enough.

Tilt is more about leaning out over the plate than it is about leaning back toward the catcher. Some people lean back toward the catcher while other are more upright like Pujols. However, they all lean out over the plate to get to balls outside and/or low.
Also, even the best hitter will get fooled sometimes (e.g. by a change-up) and lunge at the ball.

Also consider pitch location, the count, what pitch was he expecting, etc. He may just have been off a tad and on and on. To see how a player swings you have to look at a variety of swings. To take one swing and have it throw off your views of what he is doing is mis-leading.
If he is sitting on an inside third pitch he may be more upright because that's what he likes to do. When he is protecting the entire plate I'd say he is less upright.
Each of these pics is just before contact. If you look at video, you'll notice that the tilt happens from here through contact.

Notice that Pujols shoulders and bat are parallel to each other.

Uprightness has nothing to do with rotation.
ALL hitters rotate.
Rotation means the rotation of the torso (hips through shoulders.)
The belly button and chest rotate from facing the plate, to facing the pitcher. That is basically what rotation is. The legs force the torso into rotation and the muscles in the trunk rotate the shoulders and move the arms. The arms direct the bat to the ball.
The sequence of the parts that move is; Hips, Handle of bat, Head of bat. The bathead is accelerated from forces that come from the ground up through the body, to the hands, and the bathead. The faster the body rotation, the faster the handle moves, and the faster it moves, the faster that the bathead will move.
Here's a video breakdown of ALbert doing Hips, Handle, Head.

I believe in the second still pic of Pujos, the ball is coming off of the bat.
