This has been posted before, but I felt like bringing it up again.

What do you feel are the benefits of this? Working on forcefully exploding the hips? The harness holding you back teaching you to fully rotate against a weight?
Cons?
A good idea to add as a drill, taking that you have the right set-up? Or modify the set up to a weight/pulley type system?

I've tried it (as well as posted the original pic :)). You can definitely feel the difference after you are done. There used to be a clip of A-Rod on YouTube doing the exact same drill - but with "live" pitching.
See, that's the thing, you don't have to "work on" "forcefully exploding the hips" (or anything, for that matter). The harness supplies the resistance, you should be doing your best to take your normal swing with normal mechanics and let the bungee cord do the work. :)

Kudos to you for posting the original:bowdown:.

That's what I'm lookin for. Care to go a little more in depth?

Basically, you get a FULL lower/core body workout. Legs, abs, obliques -everything. You will definitely feel some major "separation" after you are done.

I had a feeling that would be the result. This is very intreaguing to me.
Would this be a similar concept to the Levatino bat speed machine?

Thought provoking, to say the least.

Actually, I have seen that before (long time ago), just never knew that's what it was called.
But I would say no....it's not like that. That machine focuses on "hand drive" - strengthening the muscles in the upper-body that drive the hands to and thru contact. The "harness drill" (as you call it :)), focuses on "hip drive" and maximum power generation from the lower-body. BUT, I would love to see what would happen if you used both of these simultaneously...
But from this video (on the site)

the biggest problem I see with this machine, is that this hitter (along with many others, probably) is using the reistance of the machine to pull his body [weight] closer to the machine!!! Not good.

and the swing that he is promoting is a downward swing. Front elbow is not pulling away ts pulling down.

That machine doesn't look altogether too different than the standard cable cross machines you can find at the local gyms in your area. They are great for woodchops and all sorts of core/total body exercises that should promote strength from the ground up and help add power to a swing.

Fully agree, but my point about the "similar concepts" was more about simply the resitance reinforcing mechanics than the obivious emphasis on lower body with the harness and upper body with the Levatino thingy.
