I hope all Yankees greats, that are still alive, and representatives of the ones dead, should come on to the field on the last home game at Yankee stadium, and give it a good send-off. What are your views on this? If something similar is already being planned, then please shoot me down from my perch, but if not, would this be a good idea in your eyes?

Of course it's a good idea and I hope that they already have it planned. I remember thinking over the winter that it sucked that Mattingly wouldnt be there for it but now that he is only an advisor for the Dodgers hopefully he can still come. Randolph is free now too so hopefully he will be there too. Bring in the usual guys from old-timers day, Ruth's daughter (yeah I know she rooted for the Red Sox the last few years but still), the Mantle kids, Billy Martin Jr, I dont know who would be the more or less heir for DiMaggio because I know his son is gone, have Hal or Hank make nice with some of the guys like Winfield who are on bad terms right now, and get taped things from Torre, Piniella, Zimmer, Jerry Coleman etc..

And release the thing on DVD in time for Christmas.

EDIT: Side question who is airing the final game? YES or ESPN?

I know someone who has to go on a business trip on thedate of the last game, and I will have his ticket. I will see this game, and I especially hope they have this tribute at the stadium. Babe built it, A rod will take it down.

This will probably sound stupid to you but I hope those ghosts know how to get the the new stadium across the street. It just wouldn't be an October in the Bronx without them.

I think the ghosts are old enough that they can cross the street by themselves. :cap:

...

Isn't Dom DiMaggio still alive? Obviously a Bosox player, but it would still be a nice touch, I think. I'm not sure if Vince is still around. I think that Joe Jr. led a very sad and wasted life and had no kids.
Maris' family would be great. Murcer and O'Neill should be able to come down from the booth (or is Bobby still to sick to work?), Reggie Jackson would get a huge hand, Munson's family, Lidle's family. I would guess that Gehrig's line ended with him, no brothers or sisters? Roy White and Horace Clarke should be invited. Maybe even that little catcher, Jokey or Yomi, something like that? :cap:
I don't know how his health is now, but I sure hope The Boss is there. As much as I don't like him, he's a big part of Yankees history, good and bad.
Oh, and, just to be safe, make sure that somebody drives Billy Jr.

They've gotta be planning SOMETHING like this, right???

I've heard that they have planned for every living Yankee to be there for the closing of the Stadium. Obviously some can't be there because of obligations to other teams. But it should be pretty cool to have so many years of Yankee history in the ballpark. I can't wait to watch this game, as painful it might be. But hopefully it won't be the last game at the stadium, or the last happy memory there either if you know what I mean.

Ruth's daughter (yeah I know she rooted for the Red Sox the last few years but still)

Babe Ruth's daughter, Julia Ruth Stevens, along with the Babe's grandson and great-grandchildren, were at the Stadium last Saturday to present Alex Rodriguez with the 2007 Babe Ruth Home Run award.

Later in the game, they were at the countdown clock.

Many of the news reports I've read online quoted Julia Ruth Stevens, 91, as saying "this is my last trip east" (she lives in Arizona), and thus, in all likeliehood this was her final visit to Yankee Stadium.
