i will sound stupid, but we need to know some technicalities if anyone can oblige.

1. if a guy is on 1st, can he not run on a sacrific fly to the outfield and advance to 2nd? is this only possible if he is on 2nd or 3rd?

2. if a guy is ran out at home having gone for an in the park homer, does he get a triple on his record yet is still out? read that in the 'luckiest man' book i am reading at the moment.

3. if a pitcher is taken out of the game, can he come back in?

4. what is the little sqaure white plate on the pitching mound at ys? it is also at other stadiums too. we reckon some sort of storage for the roisin bags. we even thought a heat vent to aid cold pitching hands on the cold days!

the trip to ys on may 25th was great, btw. that 8th inning rally and then to see mo come out to enter sandman sent goose pimples. and then he just blew them away. a great day. the crowd banter is funny too, similar to football in england without the endless selling of stuff. but, the way the crowd help each other out passing food and money is a real a credit to the people and the game.

this one seller had a massive box of stuff yet could whizz down the stairs like a slide. this was tier reserved, high up and we felt the need for ropes to clip into to hold us in. ridiculously good view though.

we found ichiro's settling down performance to be...welll...quite ladylike. and very effeminate if i am being kind though we seemed alone in our amusement - he'd be ripped at a football stadium for that level of posing. that said, he can definitely hit the ball ok.

kind regards form sunny england, let's see the boys scream away from 500.

michael.

You can tag up at first but it hardly ever happens. You have to be really fast and the ball would have to be hit deep, 2nd is an easy throw from the OF.

Yes, the player gets credit for a triple but is out. Same goes for if you single and try to stretch it into a double, you get credit for a single.

3. if a pitcher is taken out of the game, can he come back in?

No.

There could be two things you're thinking of, one is the pitchers plate or more commonly known "the rubber". Pitchers use that to push off of when they throw to gain more velocity.

The other towards the back of the mound is just a Cleat Cleaner.
