Bill Holbert went his entire career without hitting a HR, 2335 ABs.

Al Bridwell hit 2 HRs in his entire career, but he hit them towards the end of his career. In his first 3200+ ABs, Al Bridwell hit 0 HRs.

What about modern times, say after 1950?

From and including 1950 the record holders would be Tim Johnson for position players (1269) and Don Sutton amongst pitchers (1354). Amongst players considered as still active it would be Reggie Willits for the position players (525) and Curt Schilling for pitchers (773).
