For an in-depth look at the Arnold Johnson Era, check out The Kansas City A's and the Wrong Half of the Yankees (2007), by Jeff Katz. Lots of info on the behind-the-scenes finagling that made KC the Yank's major league farm club. Also a thorough discussion of the Mack family infighting that preceded the move from Philadelphia.

Sorry. A search for Arnold Johnson (just the 2 words, no quotes or AND) brought it up.

Thanks. Boy, that website is a Pop-Up Palace isn't it? I don't read SI, anymore, but I see they still have "free football phone"-style marketing overkill.
Good info though with those archives!
