Hope this doesn't brake any forum rules by asking this question.
I picked up a 8x10 of the George W. while he was throwing out the 1st pitch in Washington this year and would like to get it signed.
Has anyone tried to get an autograph from the President?
Originally, I wanted to get it on a baseball. But, I think If I sent a baseball thru the mail to the White House it would create problems and probably would end up with the Men in Black at my front door. I think an 8x10 is safe.

I'm pretty sure that if you try it, you'll get an autopen signature. That's made by a machine.

I'd try to contact someone there. Whether it be via telephone, e-mail or whatever and see if it's actually possible for him to get it and really sign. That would be kick butt!

P.S.
This is NOT against the rules. Presidents and first pitches are as American as baseball itself. :highfive:

You'd have to wonder how much of his actual mail the President gets a hold of, especially in light of 9/11 and the subsequent Anthrax scares.

Bush's baseball connections are well known (overblown?). I wouldn't worry about reprisal if you send a ball.

It's campaign season. It is not beyond possibility that Bush will be campaigning for McCain. In person might be your best shot at this point, or wait a few months for when he is out of office.

Good luck with it. Any chance you could post a scan of the picture?

Thanks for all of the input.
Maybe I will wait till he gets out of office. Its only another 6 months.
Here is the picture. I found it online at http://www.bestsportsphotos.com
They have a couple of more and now that I looked at them. I might just go back and order them

Good to see the people on here aren't "booing" our president as the fans did that night!!

I was a little surprised that he was allowed to go out in the open in front of a bunch of "normal" people like that, especially with all the booing. Security was way up I'm sure, but there's always the possibility.
To the OP, when he's out of office is probably the best thing to do. Post up when you do get it though. Whether you like him or not, it'd be cool to have that as a keepsake, the president playing baseball, signed. :dance

I agree Howie, I would think your best chance at getting this signed would be after he leaves office. Maybe then you would be able to contact him when the library opens.

Gang:
I just had to delete 6 posts dealing with political junk. PLEASE, do not post any more political stuff in this thread. The author Howiek wanted to know what his chances were of getting GW to sign his photo ttm, not about the GOP and other nonsense.

And for the record: The ONLY reason why I allowed this thread to remain open was due to the fact that A.) GW is wearing a Nats coat, B.) He threw the first pitch, and C.) It deals with ttm.

Howiek - I have never heard of this site. I be looking at it right after this. But, do all the pictures come with the MLB seal/sticker on them? I think that's pretty cool.

Dude that is an awesome photo. I hope you get that signed that would be an awesome item to have in your collection! Let us know how you do it cause I for one would love to have an 8X10 auto of President Bush. I agree with the others. I would probably make a phone call see how you can do it to send to the White House or wait till after he's out of the office and find a way to locate him. Goodluck!

I tried to get George H.W. Bush to sign a 2007 Topps Distinguished Service card via his Presidential Library. It came back unsigned.

Sending anything to Washington is a crapshoot, but even worse than your normal TTM I believe. I was on Sen. Joe Biden's webpage and on there he states that if you send anything to him via his Washington address it will be delayed because of the high security levels dealing with incoming mail. I personally wouldn't send anything to Washington TTM. In Sen. Biden's case he also listed other addresses and I sent him a Topps card and got it back in a reasonable 21 days. I would try to locate a secondary address or just wait until he leaves Washington.

That moment was FAR AND AWAY my favourite moment of this years baseball season, and to have it in a picture is awesome.

For those who dont know:

GWB steps up to the mound is getting booed, and i mean BOOED. The DC crowd is pretty democratic, and they're lighting the President up. So Ol' Dubya steps on the rubber and throws one hell of a first pitch, not just for an old guy, but for anyone. He throws it hard, and across the plate leading to the crowd to immediately abandon the jeers in favour of awe-inspiring applause.

I'm sure the videos up on youtube, and you should look it up! Its great. That and his interview with Yahoo, where he's asked about baseball and decides he'd start a team with Roy Halladay and Chase Utley. What a ballah.

Unless you want that photo ruined, I would not send it. I sent a photo to Jim Bunning's office about a year ago. Whatever machine they run those envelopes through, it ruined both the sleeve that it was in as well as the picture. It looked almost burned. I think they send it through some type of X-Ray machine but whatever it was, it ruined the pic so I had to trash it. Bunning did not sign it either. I am sure that they will probably be doing the same thing if you send it to his residence after he leaves office. Ex presidents are afforded security.
