View Full Version : 3 HR Game Twice off same pitcher
Who is the first (and only?) player to hit 3 HR in a game, each off the same pitcher, and then do this again for a second time off of the very same pitcher?

I think I finally found it..............
Hank Sauer against Curt Simmons on August 28, 1950 (first game) and June 11, 1952.

Correct! I seriously doubt it has been done since or will ever be done again.

Johnny Bench hit 3 home runs in a game off Steve Carlton TWICE. He did it on July 26th, 1970 and May 9th, 1973. Bench drove in 7 runs in each game. Pretty impressive feat to homer 3 times off a future Hall of Famer TWICE.

SABR's David Vincent was kind enough to send me a list of all players who have hit three homers in a game against one pitcher. Looking over the list, it appears that Sauer and Bench are the only two to do it twice against the same pitcher.
I'll be glad to share the list. Send me a PM if you would like a copy.
