Nolan Ryan and Will Clark were a good team.
Will Clark hit 6 HRs off Nolan Ryan, more than he hit off any other pitcher.
½ of Clark's hits off Ryan were HRs.
¾ of Clark's hits off Ryan were XBHs.

He also homered off Ryan in hit first major league at-bat.

Now we are going somewhere! Also, it would be cool if you specified the "best h/9 IP" number....just makes the thread more interesting. :)

What else, though?

6.55 hits per 9 innings over his career. Next closest (1000IP min) is Koufax with 6.79.

What else, though?Fewest H/9 IP in a season (5.26)
Most times leading league in hits/9 (12)
Most times leading league in K/9 (12)
Most Advil commercials :hide:
Not bad for a Ryan "hater"

He probably has the record with eighteen two-hitters (I was at one)
Oldest active player at least at the end of his career, at least oldest regular
I believe he had the highest yearly salary or contract for a while
Only pitcher with 9-pitch fanning the side in both leagues
Did I forget most Ks in a SEASON?
Most seasons (27)
Number retired by 3 different teams
Probably received worst support ever, in 1987
Still think I'm a hater?

I never claimed you were a "hater." What is that all about?

I am VERY interested in hearing about your experience at the 1-hitter, if ya don't mind sharing!

Yes, 1987 - what a freak year that was..... :(

Two-hitter, I was actually at this game

http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/CLE/CLE199308150.shtml

You figure back in 93 there were no Fla teams nor interleague. So basically if you lived in the southeast this was the closest game you could get to see Nolan pitch one last time. The variety of license plates heading up I-77 north that day was priceless. Nolan unfortunately allowed a leadoff hit (single) . . .
. . . and that would be the last hit he allowed until the fifth (and those would be the ONLY hits he would allow that day). I got an extra ticket (not sure if I could still find it)

Excellent! Glad to hear the memories, man. :) I wish I could have seen something like that. The first time I saw him was in 1982 at the Astrodome. The last time I saw him was in 1988 at the Astrodome, where he tossed his last shutout as an Astro (3-hitter vs. Phillies). I still have the article from the Chronicle, laminated.
The big pic there is one of him speaking with a certain rookie catcher (#4 at the time) on the mound. Guess who that was? ;)

And yeah, oops, I meant to type "2-hitter." :shhh: I hate typos.

With Gossage, was the first 300 W/300 SV teammates
Oldest to throw a no-hitter
No-hitters in three different decades, for three different teams, have to be records
I don't know if fanning the same position player six straight plate apps in one game is a record (Cecil Cooper, and he was a fine hitter)
Oldest to win All-Star game
Faced most batters with piano-leg bats
545 consecutive starts might be a modern record
Did I forget fastest recorded pitch?
Led majors in Ks in two DIFFERENT decades :bowdown:
First free agent to sign million dollar per year contract

That would be interesting to know. I don't have a clue.

:laugh - "most piano leg batters" - nice! Yeah, I know it's true.

You're a funny dude, RMB.

Six 300K seasons is a record?

Yup, a record tied with Randy Johnson.

Ryan had 8 250K seasons (tied with Randy Johnson also) and 15 200k seasons
