Current team. 2008 season. Whether they went to the trouble of filing the official papers, I can't say, but they did leave the game...

Sounds like a possibility
--Kapler did retire on December 12, 2006
--Dillon didn't play in the U.S. in 2006 but he did play in Japan.
--Salomon Torres "retired" after 1997 and became a minor league coach. In 2001 after pitching a couple of games in the Korean League he decided to make a comeback.

You are right about Dillon. He did play in Japan in 06. But he had very few at bats so he might have called quits. Hard information to verify.
Brewers specialize in taking retired, unwanted castaways. Of course this may have accounted for some poor records. But Kapler has terrific and is earning raves here this year. :)

Yeah, I was looking for the Brewers. I think Dillon actually coached somewhere in 06. His back was supposedly shot..And yes,it is hard to really give a black and white answer in regards to retirement. A frontline player would draw attention to giving it up, these guys could just fade into the background...Sorry Ghost, I reckon I ain't perfect...just trying...
