View Full Version : Vintage Stadium Archive...Long Gone Or Forgotten

Here are a collection of old school ballparks from different cities, most that are no longer standing. Most are large pics, which can be viewed in full by clicking on the link. Feel free to add any pics of old parks you have. The more obscure the stadium, and the larger the pic, the better (so as to get a good feel of the long gone parks). 56K warning!! High speed internet recommended:)
Maybe Bill Burgess, BSmile etc can cross post some of their vintage stadium pics from the History of the game thread here. There are some good ones over there.

Glad you enjoyed them. Many I had on an old disk I got from a friend. Some were acquired online over the years (some of those using trial & error tricks to cull the full size image when only the thumbnail is shown).
Here are a few more.

Wow !! Silly question, but I can't help but wonder what kind of bathroom facilities did they have for a place like that back then. Now you would have hundreds of porto potties, equal number for man and women, handwashing stations, etc.

This park's memory has been neglected, even by ballpark fans, likely due to poor Washington teams and too few good pictures. If you take a moment to type in Griffith Stadium in the search box at Getty Images, you'll find some excellent color pictures of that great, quirky old park.

Miles was a buddy of mine who moved away from the Twin Cities just a couple of years ago. He always kept in great shape. When we last met, I tapped him on the shoulder when saying hello and shaking hands. You can't believe how solid his shoulder was - it was like touching a brick wall!
Like me, Miles is one heck of an old school baseball fan + he loves those Miesville Mudhens.

Those of you from Brooklyn know the East New York section to be the worse ghetto in NYC. But at one time it was home to what may be called the Mecca of USA sports for its Big League baseball, college and high school football.
By the way, ENY was also home to the cricket National champion in the 1890s. Sorry, I tried but could not get a proper link from the Brooklyn Eagle archives for any old articles on that subject.
