Wally Backman, the symbol of the rough and tumble, never say die, New York Mets mid-1980's teams is the subject of a multi-part documentery of his season last year managing in the Independent minors.
Here's a link to a NY times piece about the documentary 'Playing For Peanuts', which itself includes a link to show times. Episode 1 airs this Sunday, 5/25.
NY Met faithful would do cart-wheels up and down Roosevelt Avenue if Backman was tapped to lead their team. This dedicated baseball lifer deserves another shot at a ML job.
