Wagner tells it like it is...honest and real

Wagner's post game comments to the media gathered around his locker:

“Can someone tell me why the (bleep) you’re talking to the closer. I didn’t even play. They’re over there, not being interviewed. Oh, I got it. They’re gone. (Bleeping) shocker.”

These statements were made while looking in the general direction of Carlos Delgado's locker but really were a blanket comment on the other side of the locker room judging from the context.

And he's right. There are far too many players on this squad who do not want to be held accountable, do not care, and are just going through the motions.

This is EXACTLY what Paul LoDuca said last season, and got crucified for by the media and by many of the posters in this forum. The divides in this clubhouse run DEEP, VERY DEEP.

Eddie Coleman was on with Francesa and Russo, and said just about the same thing, that Wagner gestured in that general area, but that Beltran and Reyes were there answering questions from the media. He did say that Delgado had already left.

Lo Duca was stupid and brought race into it.

Wagner is right though. Too many guys are fine with getting their hits and leaving. They need to care about losing. This team doesn't hate losing and that is the problem. Enough of the "it's only one game" BS. How many did they lose the division by last year?

At least we have Wagner. Thank goodness. If he doesn't become the darling of Flushing now, something really is wrong with the fan base. This guy cares. He is obviously pissed off just like many of us are. There are serious, long standing problems on this team.

Paul LoDuca called it correctly last season. Each and every word was rite on the mark. Many less than knowledgable fans critisised him for it. These same baseball unsavey's were the same ones that would cry and whine "the fans want Wagner to shut his mouth".. Now of course, these types, who appear to know nothing about the game and think like on-line fantasy owners, are jumping on the Wagner bandwagon.

Those who actually know something about the sport knew Wagner was correct to go after Milledge, knew LoDuca was correct to point out the leadership vacuume in the clubhouse. True Met fans, the kind that don't seem to take pleasure in their losing, are rejoicing at Wags blowup. The clubhouse atmosphere is about to blow. Changes are comming.

I love Wagner! He just earned my undying respect for his views on this year long debacle. Forget Heilman, i really like the kid and he is trying and you can tell he cares, just having a bad stretch. Please lets not kill him yet. Come ASB and he still stinks we can talk but for now? No. Delgado on the other hand is finished. I blame him most for our decline. He offers no protection to our 3 and 4, and is a liability in the field. It is almost comical to watch him try to hit against the shift. It is sad but he reminds me of god love him Gary Carter in his last years. A great hitter losing it is always a tough sight.
