Cisco looks interesting & the Rays looks futuristic ( nice change from the standard HOK ) but theres only one choice for me
I'm pumped about the new Rays park.
It's radically different and a smaller park to boot. This is interesting to me.

I second that. The Rays ballpark does look great... Cisco I could care less for. To me a lot of these "retro" parks look way more disjointed and uglier than the old parks they're meant to emulate. They already regurgitated the good old warehouse idea in Petco Park, why do it again?

It's hard to tell about the Marlins ballpark because the final plans aren't out yet. They should be out in a couple of months.
For right now, I say the Rays have the best park. It's the most unique, and the waterfront setting looks great. The A's park looks pretty nice, too.
New Yankee Stadium is by far the worst of the new crop. It's nothing but New Comiskey Park with an Old Yankee Stadium exterior stuck around it. A horrible disappointment.

You're basing that off a rendering that is obsolete and inaccurate. Again, Yoda, if we could get the "real" rendering up here that would be nice. Also, maybe the reason it looks like New Comiskey Park to you is because New Comiskey in its original form was a shameless knockoff of renovated YS (not that I'm knocking it - the first time I saw it I was like, "why the hell did they airlift YS to Chicago?".

Cisco by far. TB second.
I can't change the rendering in the poll, but it does it's job anyway.
It's not the far off from what's being built anyway, and besides we're all familiar with what the new one looks like. The little picture in the poll shouldn't influence the final decision anyway.

yankee and citi shouldn't count since they are almost done if you ask me. I went with the new rays park because I love the view of the water and the fact you can hit hrs in it, the non brick is such a great change, and not having to be the trop anymore! Hope that isn't coming off as home town vote.
Cisco is really nice and if there is a great video floating around the interweb where they show all the cool technology cisco will put in the stadium. So thats my 2nd fav. if the outside didn't have brick it would be my fav.

The Mets new park is awesome, so neat, it gets my vote for sure.
The Yankees really blew it. If you are gonna tear down the greatest sports cathedral in our history, you dont build a new-looing replica of it, you make something really neat and totally different.
The A's park and the Rays park look great too, but the Mets really have a winner on their hands.

Yeah, but here's something for all you people who didn't vote for NYS to ponder over:
New Yankee Stadium: 1.3 Billion Dollars.
Citi Field: 600 Million Dollars.
Cisco Field: 500 Million Dollars
Twins Stadium: 450 Million Dollars
Devil Rays Park: 450 Million Dollars.
I'm pretty sure the Yankees aren't going to blow it with an extra 700 million dollars on a modern ballpark. And if you're opinion on a park is based off renderings than New Comiskey should take the prize as the best ballpark in America!

I picked Cisco but the more I see of the New Yankee Stadium the more I like it.
New Comiskey Park does not really exist any more since the changes that were made in the last few years. It is a much better park now.
Anyone who has actually gone there would see that it is actually a great place to see a ball game.

But even if you don't see it, the New Yankee Stadium is hardly inspirational or breathtaking. The Yanks could have had a chance to build a modernized version of the pre-renovated old stadium, and instead settled for a half-arsed money pit.

New Comiskey looks more like the renovated YS than the New YS does.
Aside from the frieze, the single most recognizable element of YS is the massive upper deck, hanging over the loge level. New Comiskey incorporates this look to a much greater effect than new YS. The new YS upper deck is small, with no cantilevering at all. As impressive as new YS is in some respects, the overall sense is that it is a huge missed opportunity. For $1.3 buh-buh-billion dollars, they could have built a brand new place that was far more faithful to the 1923 Osborn original.
As much as I will miss real Shea, new Shea is shaping up to be the most interesting new build.

Yeah, Im at work, so i can't get on youtube. I will look when I get home, its like one of the higher ups from cisco and someone hosting the show in front of an audience. They show how if you don't like you seats you can go to an atm looking machine and scan your credit card and change seats for only the difference in price and then print it out. They also show how you can use your blackberry to order food delivered to your seat.

This board in general suffers from a heavy Yankee$ and Red $ox bias.
I voted for Cisco, but really like what most of the other teams are doing, Tampa Bay looks like it is going to be pretty damned innovative, and Minnesota looks very nice as well.
Personally, I think the Yankee$ missed the boat in a big way. Knowing they weren't going to be able to please everybody, they should have gone the Jerry Jones route, and built something completely different. Instead, they're building a baseball FedEx Field: a building that exists solely to suck money from everyone who comes near it.
What was Yankee Stadium was in the 1920s? A radical departure from what had come before. What is NYS? A pale imitation of a pale imitation. The $teinbrenners will be laughing all the way to the bank, though, so they're happy.

Tell us something we don't already know. It's not like this is a new development in baseball; personally I think it's a matter of coincidence that the old classic stadiums happened to be built with attractive architecture. The old owners were certainly no less greedy - they just got by milking every cent out of their players instead of the fans. Times have changed, but don't assume that the old owners were any more benevolent. Personally, I think NYS is better than many other "retro" parks because it isn't pretentious. It doesn't try too hard to be retro with artificial weird angles and mini-green monsters; it just has a classic looking facade, that's all.

What if the Steinbrenners bought the whole Bronx Municipal Courthouse and moved it right behind the right field fence; maybe paint it up like an old warehouse with a big retro sign that says "Steinbrenner Shipping, Co." Then maybe we can have a giant trough of water over the scoreboard with a steamship that puffs across the top of the scoreboard when someone hits a homerun. On second thought maybe a subway car would be nice too, complete with classic hip-hop graffiti images of the 1977 Yankees. Now THAT would be unique.

i think the new twins ballpark is the best out of these because it's unique, it has a clear theme of transportation, trapezoids, glass & limestone, and doesn't try to be something it's not. the canopy is cool and reminds me a bit of kauffman or dodger stadium. the outfield seats look like a lot of fun and the corner building in left will tie in nicely with the light rail behind it. i also like that this park will be close to bars and restaurants. these are from www.twinsballpark2010.com

I don't know about this. Two issues: 1 - Like some other HOK parks (Petco comes to mind), it looks disjointed. There are two many random sections strewn all over and I can't really pick out a main focal point. 2 - I think it looks too much like a 1960s airport or shopping mall with all the glass and other material choices, as well as the tiny, random windows. That being said, it's definitely unique - I'll give it that.

I am actually really impressed by the new designs of ballparks that have came out, look like they are finally starting to get away from the predictable retro-ballpark look. I thought Washington's new park(i know it's not on the poll) was going to suck big time but it turned out great. I love the mid-20th century "Modern" look of the Twins new park, I really like the plans for the Rays new park, the sail looks awesome even though I don't really get how it's going to work or how what's going to happen when it rains real bad. The A's plans for their new park looks real interesting, if that's anything close to the renderings it's going to be a nice park. Citi Field looks really nice so far, it has the red bricks and green seats but it still has it's own personallity.
I did vote for the New Yankee stadium, partly because if I didn't the Evil Empire thought police would burst down my door and take me to be re-educated. But really when I first saw the renderings I thought it was going to be horrible, I thought it was just going to be total crap! But as more and more gets done I get more impressed! I am amazed by how good it is turning out. I am sorry but it's a massive, intimidating, beautiful stadium and I can't wait to see it in person and when it's done. I am not a rah rah "Yankees can do no wrong" Homer if any of it sucked at all I would be all over it and George but I am very impressed by the New Stadium.

Overall, Yankee Stadium, by far. It doesn't mess with Yankee Tradition; HOK and the Yankee org realized this, otherwise there'd be an outcry. It incorporates a lot of the classic, original styling, only in a more modern form including amenities more conducive this era.
The others are pretty much just HOK clones with a few differences here and there. They look pseudo-retro with all their forced angles and random warehouse-plopping. As for Citi, the Wilpons should just get over the Dodgers and give the Mets their own identity, something they are sorely lacking despite being in the league for 46 years.
The Rays park is just too odd and 60's Jeston's-like futuristic.

What I meant to say is that the New Yankee Stadium didn't stray from its classic design, unlike the typical HOK clones with their pseudo-retro, contrived look.
Though it is not an exact replica of the 1923 or 1976 versions there is no mistaking that it is indeed what a new Yankee Stadium should look like to many Yankee fans, incorporating some of the old with more modern amenities and distinguishing itself from the rest of the indistinguishable, tired cloned ballparks of today.
The new exterior, the entire facade, "screams" Yankee Stadium however or wherever it might have changed. The Yankees and fans demand this and HOK knows that they couldn't get carried away with their own vision. Anything less would have been unacceptable. No way does a Camden/PNC/Miller, etc., go up in the Bronx.
Your "completely or even somewhat different" comments might apply if one were being too literal or shortsighted. I have a hard time believing that this is the case with you.

But 23 people voted for nys doesn't that mean its awesome?

I was mis-reading the second line because my eyes were having trouble focusing after the first...seriously, it's a signature, not a banner headline.

It reads a dopey as it sounds. I think you should make it smaller.

No amount of grandstanding (pardon the pun) is going to convince me that New Yankee Stadium is a groundbreaking, exceptional ballpark as ballparks go.
At best, at the very best, it will be par for the course, and that's it.

It's not par for the course as far as New Yorkers are concerned... You can laugh at what you may call "so-called" Yankee Tradition if you like, but it was important to a lot of people to do the Stadium in the way it was done... a way that respects the old while embracing the new. Maybe Frank Gehry or Calatrava will design the next groundbreaking stadium someday, but it ain't gonna be Yankee Stadium, that much I can tell you; in the same way you will never, ever see something radically different replace Fenway or Wrigley. All I can say is, wait until you see it.

I think it's awesome but I'm more interested in futuristic design of Tampa Bay's new park.
I hope they don't make too many modifications to that design.
