I thought it would be cool to hear from people who have been in attendance for ballpark specific moments/milestones or saw a baseball related moment or milestone at the ballpark. the only one i can think of that i was in attendance for was the game between the red sox and yankees at yankee stadium in 2004, the game where jeter flew into the stands catching a ball, it was also a great extra inning game.

June 20, 1956, Briggs Stadium in Detroit, my first major league game. In the middle of Mickey Mantle's greatest year, I was fortunate to see him hit two home runs into the upper deck centerfield bleachers in consecutive at bats. The Detroit bleacher fans literally went crazy, jumping up and down and waving their arms. No other player has reached this territory even once. The closest was Larry Herndon, who hit the upper deck facing above the 440 ft. sign.
The second All-Star Game in 1960 at Yankee Stadium. This marked Willie Mays' first game back in New York since the Giants moved in 1957. He homered, stole third base, and went 3 for 4. That was a milestone to me.
Also in 1960, I witnessed Ted Williams' 499th home run at Briggs Stadium in Detroit. He crushed a line drive halfway up the upper deck in right, and the sound of the ball hitting an empty seat seemed as loud as the crack of the bat. One of the hardest hit balls I've ever seen, and almost a milestone.

I was at County Stadium for Hank Aaron's final home run - July 20, 1976.
Of course, being only July, we didn't know it was his final home run at the time. We thought it was just a Brewers win, which in 1976 was milestone enough. :D

Not all are milestones, but I've been lucky enough to be in attendance for a few memorable moments:
-Seaver wins #300 vs. the Yanks.
-Rizzuto getting knocked over by the Holy Cow on his Day.
-Dion James of Atlanta hitting a bird in midflight with a fair batted ball @ Shea.
-Tommy John's last game ever.
-Bryce Florie getting hit in the face by Ryan Thompson's liner. I was 3 rows away from the field @ Fenway and will never forget how horrible it was.
-Mike Mussina, 1 strike away from perfection vs. Boston. Hate Carl Everett.
-George W. Bush throwing out the first pitch at Yankee Stadium. Game 3, 2001 WS.
-Tino Martinez hitting 2 HR's against Pettitte in his return to Yankee Stadium.
-What looks to be Roger Clemens' last game. Game 3, 2007 ALDS. Also Joe Torre's last win as manager of NY. Possibly the Yankees last post season victory, though I hope not.

well this is "milestone" is miniscule in comparison to some of the ones mentioned before, but i attended wrestlemania 19 at safeco field in 2004 when a safeco attendance record (which if i am not mistaken still stands today) of 54,097 was set.

I was there for that one, too. ("That one" because they both took place on the same date - Tom Seaver won his 300th game on Phil Rizzuto Day.) Back in those days I used to pick up discarded ticket stubs and such, and I found a discarded parking pass that someone wrote "I Hate Tom Seaver" on the back of.
What else...
Darryl Strawberry's major league debut, 1983.
The George Brett Pine Tar game, 1983. At the time it happened I had no idea what was going on.
The Colorado Rockies' very first two games, at Shea Stadium v. the Mets, 1993.
The first game at Shea Stadium after 9/11.
Bob Murphy Night, 2003.
The last game the Montreal Expos ever won - Shea Stadium, October 2004. Back then - and we're talking less than four years ago - the Mets were so bad that for this game, I was able to get a pair of Field Box seats with waiter service and Diamond Club passes, face value $65 each, for $25 for the pair on Ebay. Oh, how times have changed...
The Mets' clinching the 2006 National League Eastern Division championship.
Ralph Kiner Night, 2007.
The final three regular season home games at Shea Stadium.
If I remember any more, I'll get back to you. :gt
I saw Michael Barrett punch AJ in the face

1st game ever, June 1959: Marv Throneberry homers as a Yankee. Now that's special. Mick homered, too.
Game 3 1962 WS, Yanks win 3-2. Mantle and Mays face each other for last time, both stink out the series.
1963 Jim Hickman of the Mets hits for a natural cycle
Game 3 1964 WS, Mantle walks off with his 16th WS homer becoming the all-time leader (still is with 18; I don't want to hear about this post-season leader crap)
1965, the 1st Mickey Mantle day. Robert Kennedy enters the field, Joe DiMaggio heads to the other side of the diamond.
1967, Yanks home opener, Billy Rohr of the Sox pitches 8 2/3 hitless ball, Elston howard singles up the middle. Closest I've ever come to a no-hitter.
1968, as Sterling and Waldman tell you every night, the last Yankee triple play till now, Dooley Womack catches a line drive, throws to Bobby Cox at 3rd, who throws to Mantle at 1st.
1971, Bobby Murcer homers in 4 consecutive at-bats in a doubleheader.
1973, the last game at the old Stadium before refurbishment (and I'll be there for the last one period)
1976 go to games 3 and 4 of the WS, freeze my rear end off.
Rod Carew's 3000th hit, whenever that was. Went to 2 consecutive games to see that.
Game 1, 2000 WS, the longest game by time in WS history.
Last season I'm at AT&T Park with tickets I'd bought months before, Bonds is tied with Aaron. He barely gets the ball out of the infield. Of course he hits it the next night. Another reason for him to rot in Hell.
My 2 LA almosts. My wife and I went out for a drive one Sunday morning and were coming back on the 110 freeway past Dodger Stadium. It was almost game time and we thought we'd take in the game, but turned on the radio and found out it was a sellout. Dennis Martinez pitched a perfect game. Then in 1988 my wife left town for business so I went up to the Ddodger Stadium parking lot to see if I could scalp a ticket for the WS. I determined not to pay a ridiculous price, which was what was being asked, so I went home and saw Kirk Gibson's insane walkoff home on TV instead.

I was at Camden Yards the night Eddie Murray hit his 500th home run in 1996.The game was delayed by rain for about 2 1/2 hours and by the time he hit it- which was around midnight- the park was about half full. If I'm not mistaken, it was exactly one year to the day after Cal Ripken broke Lou Gehrig's consecutive game record.
This one really doesn't qualify, but I remember being at Cinergy Field the night David Wells pitched his perfect game with the Yankees in 1998. The scoreboard there kept a progress report going- "perfect through seven innings, perfect through eight," until they announced he threw a perfect game.

Never really thought about it... but I've been pretty lucky.
I was at Camden Yards the night Cal Ripken tied Lou Gherig, and the next night as well, when he broke the record.
I (my parents, really) gave a 1987 World Series Ticket to a friend of mine, and he said at that time he would be in debt to us forever. Giving me tix to the two Ripken games? Yep... We're even.
I took this photo from my seat in the right field corner... right as 2129 changed into 2130. The other is obviously the next night. They are scans, but translate to the computer pretty well.

Mark Whiten hits 4 HR's in Cincinnati September 1993... or was it 94? My buddy (the same one from above) knew Tim Costo and some other Red's players, and Costo got us tickets to this doubleheader. Not only did we see 4 HR's, but my buddy catches a foul ball that game hit by, you guessed it... Tim Costo. We chatted him up after the game and asked him about a foul ball he hit down the first base side in his second at bat. Like a robot, he says "slider up and away, I was looking down and in, and was late on it, nearly missed it, etc. recalling EVERYTHING".. it was freaky.
I sat in row one at Wrigley for a Cubs Expos game (tickets from my buddy again... this time from Brian Barber, lefty pitcher) and we show up and talk to him down in the bullpen. He says they have no batboy that day, and my buddy jumps the wall and gets a uniform on. I move down and sit in the front row at the edge of the dugout right next to the chair while he freaking BATBOY'S. Not much of a milestone, but fun as hell!

How I could have missed btown 12's post right before me! Yup, I was at that game, too. I took my girlfriend to that one, and it was the last game I ever saw at Veterans Stadium. We were in left field, and the angle of our seats was such that I didn't see Ricky Ledee's ball go into the right field seats for a solo home run- the only scoring of the game. I might have been one of the few Giants fans there that day.
It's funny- a couple of years earlier I was at Veterans Stadium watching the Giants play the Phillies. In the top of the tenth, Jeff Kent hits a double and gets thrown out at third trying to stretch it into a triple. In the bottom of that inning, Bobby Abreu hits a drive off the right field wall that Calvin Murray misplays. Abreu wound up with a game-winning inside the park home run, but I never saw him cross home plate. When he was waved around, I got out of my seat, walked up the aisle, and tore the scorecard up into a million pieces. Forty years of going to ballparks, and I'd never seen an inside the park home run. Then to see a no-hitter in the same place a couple of years later- well, that's something.
Those were two long, long drives back home to New Jersey, though.

I was in the ballpark when Barry Bonds hit #714 to tie Babe Ruth.
However, the ballpark I was at was Shea Stadium, and the Mets were playing the Yankees, but they posted it on the "game highlights" section of the main scoreboard as well as on Diamond Vision.

The rays don't have a lot of moments to be proud of. Although I was watching tv when Frank Thomas hit the catwalk for the first time ever and it took about 10 minutes to figure out if it was a hr, ground rule double, or a fair play.
Also at Florida State I saw Stephen Drew come up a double short of hitting for the cycle!
Thrree 5 things I would have loved to see live are:
The George Brett Pine Tar situation, even though someone said they had no idea what was going on.
The Cal Ripken Record breaking night.
The homerun that bounced off Jose Canseco's head!
Anybodies 3,000th hit or 500th homerun.
A No hitter or perfect game in person, even better if its a sell out like against a big rival or playoff time!

And that was just the attendance for Yankee Stadium. The attendance figures for Dodger Stadium have to be calculated inning by inning, with all the late arrivals and early exits.
But I'd say the answer to "how man much attendance has there been at Dodger Stadium is....." Grilled Cheese. Perhaps a bit more than that, but not much more.

Also saw Randy Ready turn a triple play once, haha. He could have had it unassisted but decided to throw the ball to Ricky Jordan at 1B for the 3rd out (the typical 3-2 count, both runners go, line drive to an IF triple play). Don't even tell me you were at that game too!!! (I doubt it, it was the Padres I believe)

I don't know if it counts, but I was at Memorial Stadium on June 17, 1991 when Orioles first baseman Randy Milligan doubled home the tying and winning runs with two out in the bottom of the ninth inning to snap the Minnesota Twins 15 game win streak.
Why is this notable, other than being an exciting game?
Because in A Few Good Men, the Tom Cruise character is seen watching that very game on TV.

Well, I missed out on witnessing Kevin Milwood's no-hitter since I overslept, and I missed out on buying tickets for Cal Ripken's game where he broke Lou Gehrig's consecutive streak record by one day.
The closest thing that I have witnessed was an inside the park home run by Jimmy Rollins and a triple play pulled off by the Houston Astros.

I was there when Jeter dove into the stands against Boston. It was actually on my 14th birthday. One of the best birthdays I ever had. I didnt even know I was going to the game until that morning as a birthday present.
I was also at the game when roger clemens announced his return to the yankees. It was pretty exciting i must admit seeing it in person even though now, its a worthless memory.
Ive been to the Yankees Home Openers for the past 3 years but nothing really major there.
I was at the quickest Yankee game ever when Randy Johnson pitched his best game for the yankees in my opinion on 9/11/05.
I was at Game 2 of the 2003 World series when I thought I saw andy pettitte pitched his final games in pinstripes. he wouldve pitched a full game if it werent for aaron boone.
I was there when Matsui's consecutive game streaked ended against Boston.
I saw Phil Huges first major league start and my dr actually gave me his field seats for the game.
I saw Andy Pettitte's 200th win
those are the main ones i can really think of. There may be a few more but nothing MAJOR.
I wish one day to see a perfect game or a no hitter. A 3,000 hit or a 500th HR. A yankee retirement number ceremony. The final game at yankee stadium. This is why im not paying a LARGE fortune to see the final regular season game. Im kinda banking on the yankees to make the playoffs so I dont have to pay $250 for a bleacher seat.

This is my first post here, after lurking for a while....
I've been to Yankee Stadium over 100 times, but never saw a truly GREAT moment. I have some very close calls, though.
-My first ever game was July 3, 1983. Next day was Rags no hitter.
-In 1996, the Yankees offered alternate games to make up for the snowy home opener. I chose a game against the Tigers, when I almost chose one against the Mariners. That was Doc Goodens No hitter.
-In 1998, a couple of buddies and I were going to go to a Sunday game, but that morning one of them asked if we could go to the next game because that Sunday game was Beanie Baby day, and he didnt want to deal with a ton of kids. David Wells pitched a perfecto.
-In 1999, my dad and I were going to go to Yogi Berra Day. He thought it'd be sold out, so he said we would go another time. It wasnt sold out. It was a good day for David Cone, however.
-I was at the game before Arod's 500th.
So I figure, I'm DUE!!!

If the Yankees go into the post-season, tickets will be even harder to get, and prices on the secondary market will be even higher because it's a post-season game in addition to being the final game at the Stadium. And what if you're only able to get a ticket for one game - the Yankees' final home game in the post-season (whether division, LCS, or World Series) - but they either sweep the series 4-0 or get swept 0-3 or 0-4, and your game doesn't get played?
Side note - as of date and time of posting, Stub Hub asking prices for the final regular season game at Yankee Stadium range from $249.75 (a single in Tier Reserved section 35, row H) to $999,999.99 (for a wheelchair seat in Monument Park - click here (http://www.stubhub.com/new-york-yankees-tickets/yankees-vs-orioles-9-21-2008-512528/?ticket_id=117549867) to see the listing for yourself).

But you can't top my 10th birthday. May 14, 1967 at Yankee Stadium. If you haven't already heard the story, RuthMayBond can fill you in on all the details.

The main ones:
1999 Todd Pratt walk off homer to clinch NLDS
The only game the mets won in the 2000 world series... I believe it was game 3.
Piazza and Sean Estes the pitcher go deep off of Clemens (after Estes tries to hit Clemens but misses him)
August 22, 2006 - Pujols hits a grand slam and 3 run homer, Delgado hits a grand slam of his own (400th career homer and 2nd of the game) and Beltran hits a walk off home run off Isringhausen (former Met) in the 9th
and the 2 bad memories...
2006 game 7 NLCS
and 2007 final regular season game where glavine blew it and the collapse and yadda yadda yadda.

You don't know how bad we in STL were cursing IZZY that night. Pujols cracks those 2 homers and we still lose. Oh well, I guess you as a Mets fan would have exchanged that games win for a win in 2006 NLCS game 7. I'm not trying to be ignorant or rub salt in the wound, but being at game 7, how quiet did it get at Shea when Molina hit that 2 run shot in the top of the 9th? That series, hell that GAME was one nail biter. One hell of a baseball game, 2 teams just battling it out with the momentum shifting back and forth so much. Chavez's catch was heartbreaking but one of the best I have ever seen.

I was at SkyDome in Toronto in 1995 for Don Mattingly's final regular season game. The Yanks also clinched their first playoff spot since 1981 that day.
I was at Game 4 of the 2001 WS. This was the game Tino tied in the ninth and Jeter won with a walkoff HR in the tenth.
Slightly OT, I was at the Houston/Buffalo playoff game in 1993, 'the greatest comeback in NFL history', and no, I did not leave at halftime. Many people in Western New York have still never seen this game as it was blacked out in Buffalo and Rochester.

Well, I missed out on witnessing Kevin Milwood's no-hitter since I overslept, and I missed out on buying tickets for Cal Ripken's game where he broke Lou Gehrig's consecutive streak record by one day.
I was actually offered tickets to go to Cal's last game ever. I had already moved down to Florida by that time but I would have gladly flown up to Maryland to see it, but for the fact I had a major exam in school that weekend.

1. Arlington Stadium, May 1, 1991 -- Nolan Ryan's 7th career no-hitter.
2. Coors Field, October 27, 2007 -- Game 3 of the 2007 World Series, the longest 9 inning game in World Series history.
3. Coors Field, April 26, 1995 -- First game ever played at Coors Field (all 14 innings of it).
4. Shea Stadium, April 5, 1993 -- First game in Colorado Rockies franchise history (I also went the the second game in Rockies history on April 7th).
5. Bankone Ballpark, March 31, 1998 -- First game in Arizona Diamondbacks history and the first game ever played at the BOB (now known as Chase Field).
6. Ballpark in Arlington, April 11, 1994 -- First game ever played at the Ballpark in Arlington (Van Cliburn and the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra played the finest rendition of the national anthem that I have ever heard).
7. Arlington Stadium, August 22, 1989 -- Nolan Ryan's 5000th career strikeout.
8. Arlington Stadium, October 3, 1993 -- the final game ever played at Arlington Stadium. This was also George Brett's final game. Every player for the Rangers and Royals all stood at the top ot the dugout steps for Brett's last at-bat (a ground ball single through the hole at short).
9. Arlington Stadium, some time during the 1993 season -- I went to the game where Robin Ventura charged the mound, and Nolan Ryan got him in a headlock. Ventura was ejected, Ryan was not. I think Nolan pitched five no-hit innings after that incident...

I've never been to a game where something historical happened but my sister, who attends a game maybe once every ten years, was at Riverfront the day Tom Seaver pitched his only no-hitter.
Talk about lucking out.

I saw Phil Huges first major league start and my dr actually gave me his field seats for the game.
I went to the Rangers-Yankees game on May 1, 2007 at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington. The only no-hitter I have ever seen live was Nolan Ryan's 7th on May 1, 1991, and I almost saw another one exactly 16 years later. Phil Hughes was the Yankees' starter, and he was rolling. The Rangers hadn't even come close to getting a hit off him into the 7th inning. But Hughes pulled his hamstring and had to be taken out of the game. The Rangers got one run on two hits off the Yankee relievers in the final two innings of the game (but still lost 10-1). I firmly believe that Hughes would have no-hit the Rangers that night if not for his injury. If he had, I would have seen two no-hitters, both on the date of May 1st. My five year old was with me last year during the Hughes game, and he wound up getting a foul ball off the bat of Derek Jeter in the 9th inning...

Wow, really no way to top most of those events. But I guess I can come close with a few
1. 1994 All Star Game. I didn't know I was going until 7:45 PM that night, got to 3 rivers as Meat Loaf was finishing the National Anthem, the ending was one of the best in All Star history
2. 2006 All Star Game and Home Run Derby. That whole week was the best week PNC Park had ever seen with the "red carpet opening" that spanned the entire clemente bridge, to Ryan Howard "hitting it there", to Michael Youngs 2 out double off of Trevor Hoffman to maintain AL dominance in the All Star game.
3. The final game at 3 Rivers Stadium. Willie Stargells final public appearance in throwing the "last pitch" at 3 Rivers. The closing ceremony also included Pirates from the past as well as "Rocket Man" (not Mr.Clemens) who flew home plate from 3 Rivers to PNC Park.
4. The first opening day at PNC Park, sadly the pall cast over the park over the news that Willie Stargell had passed away that morning is what I'll remember most from that day.
5. August 11,1991 Memorial Stadium. White Sox jump out to an early 3-0 lead on a Frank Thomas Homer, Thomas almost had a 2nd homer in the game, but Mike Devereaux makes an incredible play in keeping the ball in the yard and holding Thomas to a 2B. Oh yeah, Wilson Alverez no-hit the O's that day too.
6. The final Oriole win at Memorial Stadium in the penultimate game on 33rd St. Chito Martinez hits the final homer in Memorial Stadium History in an O's win.
7. Game 4, 1992 NLCS, the last (and to this day only) playoff game I've been to live. The Braves won, and John Smoltz stole a base so it's not worth remembering.

1993- All Star Home Run hitting contest at Camden Yards. Griffey Jr. becomes the first to hit the warehouse. The place went CRAZY!
2005- Final regular season game at Busch II.
2006- First baseball game ever played at Busch III - An exhibition game between the AA Springfield Cardinals and AAA Memphis Redbirds.

Date ???, 1974-I was in attendance the night the Padres drew 1,000,000 fans for the first time. The first 5 years of their existence the Padres had not drawn well, and some of you old enough to remember may recall the rumors of a possible move of the Padres to Washington, DC to replace the recently departed (1971) Senators. That move was averted when Ray Kroc, of McDonald's fame, purchased the team prior to the 1974 season. Somewhere among my memoribilia I still have the scorecard and a yellow bumper sticker that reads "1 Million Padres Fans-I Was There!"
Sunday, Sept. 28, 1975-I attended the last games the Yankees played as the "home" team at Shea Stadium during the Yankee Stadium renovation.
This was a double header with the Baltimore Orioles, the Orioles won the opener 3-0, the Yankees taking the nightcap 3-2. Making the games even more memorable for me was seeing Jim Mason and Ed Brinkman playing shortstop for the Yankees. Both were former Washington Senators, Mason a late season callup in the Senators last season, Brinkman had played for the Senators from 1961-1970. I didn't realize it at the time, but it would be his last game. He went 1-3.
Sunday, July 10, 2005-Boston Red Sox vs. the Baltimore Orioles at Camden Yards. Announced attendance was 49,828 in a park with the capacity listed at 48,876. This was (at the time) the largest crowd to ever attend a game at Camden Yards. (Baltimore won 4-1.)

Devo would make some absolutely insane catches during his tenure as an Oriole. Unfortunately, I was never at a game personally where he made one, just watched them on TV.

Some of you guys are using All-Star Games. I was at the 1997 Home Run Contest AND All-Star Game. Of course the camera didn't pan down far enough to show it but for Javy Lopez's HR, it was me and another guy back far enough on the home run porch. I was taller, outweighed him and I had a glove and he didn't. We were waiting for it to come down, and it did . . .
right onto the LF foul pole :grouchy
You can see on the video I was very close to getting Edgar Martinez's HR earlier that did come down.
I saw a near Nolan Ryan no-hitter, Kenny Lofton's 2000th hit

I was at the quickest Yankee game ever when Randy Johnson pitched his best game for the yankees in my opinion on 9/11/05.
The quickest Yankees game in history was 9/26/1926 when the Browns beat the Yankees in 55 minutes, 6-2. I seriously doubt either you or Randy Johnson was there.
Back to my own list, I forgot to mention the 1964 All-Star Game at Shea, one of the most exciting ever played, with the NL scoring 4 in the bottom of the ninth, winning on a walk-off by Johnny Callison, 7-4.

Anyone who was at the cubs steve bartman game, what was it like at that moment and for the rest of the game? I always wondered if the fans on the other side of the stadium knew what was going on.

I have seen some neat things in person:
Renteria getting the hit in extra innings to win the 1997 World Series in Miami.
Roger Clemens getting both his 330th and 340th victory.
Nolan Ryan striking out 10 or more for the 207th time.
Mark McGwire hitting homeruns 56,57,58, and 59 in two consecutive games (at the time the NL record was 56).
Mantle hitting the longest ground-rule double in history - the ball landed on a fly in front of the 457-ft sign and bounced high into the bleachers. Mickey had already rounded third base and was heading home and they sent him back to second base.
I was in Yankee Stadium when they had a ceremony for the late Thurman Munson.
I saw Albie Pearson catch 3, yes 3 balls all over 430-ft that Mantle hit for outs, home runs anywhere else.
I saw a spring training combined no-hitter by Ron Guidry and Dale Murray. Murray ruined his career doing it, as his arm was bothering him but he didnt say anything and kept pitching because of the no-hitter.
Also saw a woman come out of a bathroom stall, see me at the sink, scream "Oh my God, I am in the mens room", and go running out. After I looked around, I realized I was in the ladies room! True story!

I've been to a ton of met games....here are my fav's that I was at....
Piazza HR against Trevor Hoffman in the ninth to win the game.
Todd Pratt walkoff HR against D-backs in playoffs.
First ever subway series game, Dave Milicki shuts down the yankees!!!
Game 6 & 7 against the Cards...loudest games I was ever at. Game 7 is only there cause of the catch, wow was that a silent walk out of there
And the MOST MEMORABLE GAME I WENT TO WAS THE FIRST GAME BACK AFTER SEPT. 11th. That means the most to me, and it was the most emotional game I was at too. The pre game moment of silence was scary especially when the planes flew over. Piazza's HR that night was unbelievable!!! What a lift!!
Then leaving the park everyone was cheering USA USA USA, then F*CK BIN LADEN!!
It was awesome.
PS... I went to the Giants destruction of the Vikings 41-0. That was sick too!
