Within the last year a collection of papers from the Black Sox scandal were auctioned off, were the contents ever made public?

Sure it will be - the winning bidder was the Chicago History Museum.

Papers are probably being sorted, preserved, examined and researched at this time. Some are on line above and below.

thanks for the info and the quick reply, I am thrilled to see that the museum got the papers and they did not fall into the hands of a private collector to be stashed away.
