Williamsburg2599 suggested this in another post, and I think it is a good idea. Some other forums have a feature were you can embed Youtube video right into your post, so you don't have to click a link and go to another page. I think that this would be a great feature because I am seeing more and more Youtube links being posted.

If at all possible, I'd love to see this implemented here. I have seen it on other forums and think it's a neat little feature that makes viewing youtube clips alot easier than having them open in another window.

If a YouTube clip is embedded, does it automatically play? Or is it activated on a click? The latter would be far preferable, IMO.

The latter I believe.

Yeah, it has to be clicked on to play. It seems to me that it wouldn't take up much more bandwith, and it wouldn't drastically alter load times (since the vid doesn't load unless you hit play). I'm thinking there might be some sort of copyright issue though, is someone were to post a video that violates a copyright...

I don't see where copyright is an issue. The software to embed videos is on other message boards and on most blogs and myspace pages now.

I think it's a slightly different posting code to embed the videos to not play automatically.
I know of other forums in which posting Youtube videos is enabled, but it is stated in the terms of the forum that videos must be posted in a manner that they don't play unless clicked.

As far as I know, if your not the one uploading it, It's not your problem. I've seen even the biggest websites (AOL.com and such) upload videos that are clearly copyrighted (Like to show an A-rod HR or something) from youtube. And once MLB or whoever removes it, the embed doesn't work anymore.

This is my interpretation as well.
But, I certainly wouldn't consider my opinion here one of expertise.

They can be posted and they give us permission as long as you use their embed video interface which is present on all their video pages. Here is one I just did of the Willie Mays (http://www.baseball-almanac.com/players/player.php?p=mayswi01) catch:
<object width="425" height="373"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/7dK6zPbkFnE&hl=en&border=1"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/7dK6zPbkFnE&hl=en&border=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="373"></embed></object>

Thanks, Webmaster, has it always been this way, or did you just add it?
For those of you wondering how you do it, go to the video's page, And under the description on the right hand side, there is a box with embed in it, all you have to do is copy what's in the box and paste it into your post.

If I did do this correct it's a video of Mets pitchers John Maine & ex Mets pitcher Phillip Humber:
<object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/1d_iG3KfyGw&hl=en"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/1d_iG3KfyGw&hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>

Not to be rude, but are you sure that you are doing it right?

I don't know, I think so. I've tried twice with different videos. Copied & pasted the embedding language from the video. Made sure it was all there, and that I didn't cut any of it off by accident when copying. When I hit post, all that shows up is the embedding text. Strange because I have done this successfully on other forums in the past.

So when are we going to have one of Tom Seaver pitching? Even blind men would come to hear him pitch?

Yeah isn't that cool? I had not seen it before but it was the first one listed when I called up the Google video page, so I watched. The dancing seems kind of silly at first, but at the same time it's moving to see all those people in all those different countries doing it. I like the song too.
More on topic, I have tried several times and I still can't get a video to embed in post, except here in this thread. I don't really understand why.
