Doc White

Over a 13 year career in the Majors, Doc White went 189-156 with a 2.39 career ERA. Once he won over 20 games and eight times he won over 15 games in a season. Four times he posted an ERA under 2.00, leading the league in 1906 with a 1.52 mark. In 1907, he led the league in wins with 27. A good control pitcher, his 1.122 WHIP in 33rd all-time and his 1.98 BB/9IP is 84th all-time.

White is statistically similar to two Hall of Fame pitchers: Jack Chesbro and Rube Waddell.

He holds the AL-record for most innings pitched without surrendering a walk, with 65 1/3.

So, should Doc White be in the Hall of Fame?

Well, he was either the fourth or fifth best pitcher in the city of Chicago during his peak years, behind Brown (a certain Hall of Famer), Walsh (a borderline HOF), Reulbach, and arguably, Overall.

I'm not sure that makes him an overall fourth or fifth best Chicagoan, lol, but he's not close to the Hall of Fame.
