Rey Ordonez and Great Shortstops

I've got a somewhat silly set of questions for you guys, but it has its reasons.

1) How good was Rey Ordonez defensively?

2) Where, approximately or specifically, would he rank on your list of all-time defensive shortstops?

3) What is your list (however far down you want to go) of greatest defensive shorstops if you have one?

4) Any methodology, support, references or anything else you use to arrive to these conclussions, I'd like to see.

Rey Ordonez was a "no hit, flashy defense" SS. He made numerous defensive "web gem" plays at SS. Athough he won 3 Gold Gloves, he had only average to above average range and won those GG based on all those memorable TV clips not on merit.

As far as statistics, there's no absolute one statitic. Error totals are higher for higher range defensive players. The 1st number I look for is the assist totals for INF. As reference, if you look at Ozzie Smith's career, he consistantly made 500+ assists every season. Ordonez is about 100-150 assists off that mark.

That being said, he's not even in my top 100 list of all time defensive SS.
