Wow, they actually spent money?
(sorry, but you did ask how we felt)

Gonzo can help turn the team around. Vederan leadership will help out.

Considering he's the second most expensive player on the team, I'd say it's a bad signing. Willingham, Maybin, and Hermida are starting, and Cody Ross is a great 4th OFer -- why is Gonzalez on this team?

I agree with you moe. Not only is he expensive and "older", but I don't think he brings the long term impact this team needs right now. The Marlins never seem to build a long term team, it's more a year here a year there and then (KABOOM!) everbody's gone.

I don't think it is about long term impact. I think it is about teaching. The guy has so much experience, that those kids can learn something.

About time that the Marlins spent some of that 30mil they got in revenue sharing instead of cutting payroll and sticking it in their pockets.

I agree with Yankeebiscutfan, you need a veteran player, who can help the team out. Gonzo's played longer and know's most pitchers, and how they throw, same with batters.

Terrible signing IMO.
LuGo is only going to take away playing time from a younger kid who could use the ABs.
Bad way to invest what little money this team shells out.
If you want leadership from a Vet, I don't know LuGo (**cough, peds, cough**) is the guy you want that help from. Marlins should have looked for a bench player who can play several positions and is very very cheap. Honestly, how many wins will a LuGo give this team?
Should of kept the money to sign their Top Pick.

If anything, signing a guy like Tony Clark to spell Mike Jacobs/the outfield would have been a better move. At least Clark knows his place in terms of playing time, and is also a proven clubhouse guy.
