Greetings -
I'm just wondering if anyone can help
me figure out the date of a game
I attended at RFK circa 1969-70.
On that day the featured promotion
was "Ted Williams Day"and they gave away
paperback copies of "My Turn At Bat."
I'm enjoying reading everyone's posts
and must say it's nice to see so many Senators
fans online.
Thanks from Tony Poole

Hi Tony, Welcome to BBF.com. I hope you'll enjoy your stay here. I tried researching your question by looking through the 1969, 1970 & 1971 writeups in James R. Hartley's Washington's Expansion Senators (1961-1971) without any success. Short of researching the Washington Post or Washington Star in a library's microfische, you might try the Washington Baseball Historical Society or the Washington Senators Yahoo Group.
Kindest Regards,

Hi Tony, I don't know if this is of any help but I checked my own copy of "My Turn At Bat" and found that the book was copyrighted in 1969 (original Simon & Schuster edition published in June 69) with a Pocket Book edition published in April 1970. My copy (which sold for the princely sum of 95 cents when published) is imprinted with "Compliments of Techmatic by Gillette".
No, I didn't get my copy at RFK unfortunately (It was passed on by a friend.) but hope this may help narrow down your search.

Friday, July 17, 1970 - free to kids 13 and under
appears to be just a giveaway - not an official Ted Williams Day

Thanks BKMcKenna for posting that flyer!
It could very well be mystery solved...
I really appreciate the help!
