I have read on two different forums (and when I wrote to Johnny Podres last year) that former Dodger hurler Billy Loes has been really down on his luck for the past year or so. Especially financially. He recently moved to Arizona within the last year. Does anyone know if he is alright health wise?

Anyone? :noidea
P.S.
I sent a 8x10 to Mr Loes to have him autograph it for me with a "donation" of $10. I know that it's not much, but hopefully it's something to him. :)

I got Loes for free about 10 years ago, I can't believe these guys want money through the mail. Last year I sent out alot of autograph request I got back about 98% for free, mostly old Brooklyn Dodgers and some HOFers most of them were happy to hear from their fans. The only guys that didn't sign was Tommy Brown who I heard wanted $5 after I sent it and Cy Buker $6, Brown even kept my card he should have sent it back in my sase.

It is nice of you but you can get it for free with a sase, I don't send money but I always sent extra photos or cards for them to keep.

I know I can get it for free. I just wanted to be a good Samaritan and send it to him anyways. Not trying to be rude, but I know how the whole "autograph through the mail" system works, I have been doing so for over 20 yrs. :)
But any news on his health though?

I'm trying to find out about his health. The problem with being a good samaritan is that these guys will expect money from everyone or start charging and it will hurt the guy that can't afford to pay. The way I look at it if they want to sign they will and 98% do, they enjoy hearing from their fans and sent nice notes back. You may know about autographs by mail but there are alot of people who don't. I've been doing it for years also but there may be others that would like to start collecting by mail.
