We've had a thread with this title before, but it's a different concept. This is just a simple game where I will list a player. The next person states whether that player is overrated or underrated, and then posts the next player. The game continues like that. Just a way to pass the time. Any player is eligible. I cannot require you to give reasons for your judgment, but they would make this thread more interesting. I'll start off with an Astro.

Over rated... I'd like to have a guy on my team with at least a 10 second 40 yard dash time...

Underrated.
The guy gets way too much crap. They never mention the fact that he has been great in several post seasons, he gets no credit at all for moving to third even though he's a far better shortstop than Jeter, he gets flack over his huge contract even though he produces while someone like Giambi makes only 1.5 million less than him and stinks. He's the best Yankee since Mantle, and will probably rank among the 10 greatest players ever when he's done. But everyone hates him. I blame the NY media. Mostly. See also: Dave Egan and Ted Wiliams.

Underrated. One of the top 75 players of all time, and somehow he hasn't convinced people he belongs in the Hall.
Hank Aaron
Underrated, but not by much.

Underated.
His hitting numbers are unreal. He has over 1500 hits in seven years. If he started his career in the majors he could challenge Rose's record.

Underated - Sometimes I think he's remembered more for the 2,632 consecutive games (and those Holiday Inn commercials) and forget not only about all the awards he won but just how great of an overall player he was. He's one of my top favorite players of all-time.
