AAA: Newton Fig Newtons (MA)
AA: Liverpool Lads (England)
A: Iowa Farmers (De Moines)

Owner/President/CEO: League controlled
GM: Harry Dalton
Manager: Johnny Pesky

--The Gamblers were an original 1961 team under the ownership of Dude Inc. They experienced little success under that organization. Kyle took over in 1967 and turned things around quickley, getting them to 2nd place in that season. Moving to the Chadwick Division whent he league realigned in 1969 the Gamblers won the division that season. Unfortunately Kyle experienced some personal difficulities and the team had to be taken under league control during the 1970 season.
--Acting GM Harry Dalton tore the team down to its foundation in the 1970-71 offseason, including a trade of franchise player Harmon Killebrew. This tear down dropped the team to a new low with the leagues worst record - but that did net them future franchise player Mike Schmidt.

--The Gamblers look to rebound from a dismal 1971 with a large infusion of fresh blood. CFer Bobby Darwin, C Ray Fosse and SP Tom Bradley came over in trades. Slugging 1B Nate Colbert and OBP king 2B Ron Hunt signed two year max deals. LF Ken Henderson, 3B Rico Petrocelli and RP Fred Gladding signed one year max deals. The team is also hoping former All Star Jimmy Wynn can rebound from a horrid 1971 camapaign and second year SS Chris Spier can build on a solid rookie camapign.
--SP's Larry Dierker and Nellie Briles are healthy after missing significant time last year. SP Steve Arlin returns and 2nd round pick Roric Harris is expected to get some starts. Bob Locker, Waybe Granger and Denny Riddleberger return from a bullpen that was the best part of last year's club and LHP Mike Paul had a great spring and is expected to be a strong contributor.
