Here's how it goes...

We will try to write a whole baseball game, with lineups, team names, stadium names, substitutions, play by play for 9 innings or possibly more (wherever this takes us). But we will do it, one piece at a time.

So I will write the introductionary speech by the broadcaster and announce the game conditions and starting pitchers.

The next person will say the full lineup for the home team (with my SP, if it is an NL home game). The next person will say the full lineup for the away team(with my SP, if it is an NL home game). The players can be real or made-up. If you wish, give some quick info about each player.

The next person will pretend to be the play-by-play announcer for the first batter. You can make it a routine pop-up, a Home run, or the silliest thing you can think of. We continue that way until the game ends.

Please note the line between silly and stupid.

Silly- And now the manager for Boston starts throwing potatoes at Bob Jones to stop him from reaching home...

Stupid- And now disco-dancing aliens from Neptune are shooting photon rays at Bob Jones to stop him from reaching home.

Please be consistent as well. Feel free to use pinch hitters/runners and relievers (there's an infinite number of backups in this game), but don't randomly change the location, year, language, or anything else like that.

Now that there are some ground rules laid out, let's start the game!

PLEASE NOTE: EVERYTHING BELOW THE LINE UNDER THIS SPEECH THROUGH THE REST OF THE THREAD SHOULD BE PART OF THE GAME IF AT ALL POSSIBLE. FEEL FREE TO PM ME WITH ANY QUESTIONS.

It's a beautiful Saturday afternoon here at Olympic Stadium in Montreal and we are proud to bring you the 2008 Montreal Christmas Classic- which aims to use time traveling technology, invented last February, to bring together players of the past, the present, and the future all in one game. It's 35 degrees Farenheit today, with some light snow flurries passing through the area. The two teams playing today have been named the Ontario Canadians and the New York Americans. The organizers have asked me to note that the team locations do not represent the country of the players (although they could if the lineups turn out that way). Hall of Famer Fergie Jenkins, manager of the Canadians, has chosen himself to be today's starter. Hall of Famer Tommy Lasorda, manager of the Americans, has chosen rookie Robert "the Jet" Robertson to be today's starter. The Jet has a fastball which peaks at 112 mph, but has never played in an MLB or MiLB game because he is only 14. Lasorda spotted him at a high school baseball game and signed him to the Americans roster. First pitch is scheduled for 12:05 PM. Ontario is the home team today. So Merry Christmas, we'll be back with the team lineups after a quick commercial break.
