I have a baseball signed by Alex Rodriguez; but I was looking online at some of his other autographs and the "Z" and the end of his name is different on my ball then the others I've seen. Can anyone help me out with this?

Where did you obtain the ball? That is nothing like his new or old signature.

My ex-girlfriend gave it to me for a gift one year; she got it on Ebay. I was always suspicious that it was fake, but never wanted to admit it or try and find out.

That does not look very authentic. One, active players usually do not sign on the sweet spot. ( I think there is a thread on here about it) Second, the A's do not match up. Look at the pic below. Also take a look and compare the R's. In the pic below the R over laps the D. Third, the Z that you pointed out. On yours it seems to extend and does not have a circle in it like the one below.

Hope I helped!

Thanks a lot for your help. I have also seen his autograph slightly different then the ball you posted as well, so maybe I can bring it to a sport memorbilia place or something. Thanks again.

I have also saw different autographs by A-Rod. He had a new signature rather last year or 06 and it looks really bad, but still an auto. Heres a pic.(I REALLLLY WANT THIS CARD!!!)33698

I wouldn't immediately call that fake, look at the a in alex. Its pretty dead-on.

Worse comes to worse... get it PSA'd.

nyyfan,
ARod does sign on the sweet spot. Almost all of the PSA/DNA baseballs of his on ebay are on the sweet spot.

locke40,
From looking at his authenticated autographs on ebay, his autograph varies quite a bit from ball to ball. He didn't loop the "z" on yours (unlike all the ones I looked at), but it looks like his pen point went into the seam hole, so maybe that why he didn't loop it!

I think only ARod (and maybe PSA) knows for sure if yours is real.
