Odds are, he did. He was the Green Bay Packers doctor for half a decade. Name his son, who played in the majors for a decade or so..

I know the Packers pretty well and the only person that worked that long (47 years) for the team was Bud Jorgensen. But he was the team trainer, not a doctor.

In a short bio on this big leaguer, he stated that his dad was the team doctor for six years. I'm not sure how it works, but I think this doctor might be sort of the guy that the players are sent to for consultations, surgeries etc.
My sister broke her hip a couple weeks ago and the surgeon said his father was also a surgeon and he did all the repair work on the Minnesota Gophers years ago. I was born bow legged and the doctor that outfitted me with shoes as a baby was the Viking team doctor.
Ironically this major leaguer fell short of some folks expectations due to health issues.

Half a decade is only 5 years, I'm sure lots of people have worked for the Packers for that long.

True 5 or 6 years isn't that long. But I would think, odds are only one of their team doctors had a son in the major leagues. All I have to go by is what this player said in this book. I can't find any reference on the web. This major leaguer started out very desirable and had a decent career, though health problems contributed to his not reaching the potential many thought he had. If you were the Packer team doctor, where would you probably live?

Bob Wickman was born in Green Bay, but I think he came along a little too late and doesn't quite fit the description otherwise. I'm at a loss here, even though I remember reading Jerry Kramer's books about the Packers.

That would be Rick Reichardt, the highest-paid bonus baby when he was signed in 1964. His father was an orthopedic surgeon who worked with the Packers in the 1950s. Rick was a great receiver at Wisconsin and was drafted by the Baltimore Colts and also desired by George Allen and the Rams. I never would have guessed it without the kidney clue.
