Do you like the proposed name change, or do you want to keep it as-is?

This is just me, but I believe every pro sports team should be named after the city, not the whole state...ESPECIALLY when there's already another team in that the same state. It's too bad the Rangers aren't in Dallas. Dallas Rangers would've been nice.
Then again, the Cowboys will now be in Arlington.

Miami Marlins sounds better.
So will they be MIA instead of FLA or something else?

When the new stadium opens on Opening Day 2012 the Marlins will take the field as the "Miami Marlins" and that will be their offical name moving forward.
So...be sure to stock up on your Florida Marlins gear now, because in 2012 it will be a "throwback"

I guess I like Miami Vice best, but between Florida and Miami I prefer Miami.

Rangers dont work with Dallas. Its Texas Rangers. The law enforcers in Texas are called Texas Rangers.

Miami Marlins sounds more catchy. It should've been the Miami Marlins from the beginning.

^Its in fact a de facto minor league team for Red Sox and the Yankees. We trade for everyone off the roster cheap after they win the World Series and goes on player sale.

Try as I might, I can't ignore a comment as un-called for as that one. I can't tell which of those teams you support, but you sure do come across as a prick saying that in a Marlins forum. Besides AJ Burnett (who was cut by the Marlins for disciplinary reasons, then went to Toronto for several years before he got to New York) not another current Yankee has ever worn a Marlins uniform. As for the Red Sox, they did get Beckett and Lowell (who the Red Sox got in the trade that sent Hanley Ramirez, the Marlins' current best player, to Florida, along with Anibal Sanchez, who threw a no-hitter as a Marlin), but nobody else on either team came directly from trades with the Marlins, who incidentally beat your major league Yankees in the World Series. Neither team has ever made a "cheap" trade with the Marlins - the only Marlins-Yankees trade I recall was the one that sent Mike Lowell TO the Marlins, and we all know how that turned out for both teams.
As for the name change, we've been hearing about it for so long that I've gotten used to it. It doesn't quite roll off the tongue like "Florida Marlins" but it's a small price to pay for a new ballpark. Based on the Dolphins and Heat, MIA will be the scoreboard code for the Miami Marlins in 2012
